Modernize Standard Notes
In a market with consolidated competitors such as Obsidian, Anytype, AFFiNE, among others, it is essential that Standard Notes offers real-time collaboration features, in addition to the other editing functions of its competitors.
The dated interface is also a problem. When you look at the UI/UX of competitors, you can see how Standard Notes needs a design makeover to modernize it and get it out of that dated software look.

I think Standard Notes is already attractive and modern looking compared to the apps you listed.
I disagree that real-time collaboration is essential, but I understand the utility, most significantly for couples/families. I do hope they add this.
The idea is just simple, private, notes on all devices. It needs to be picky about what features it adds. Simplicity is key with notes.

I am excited about this personally badly needed product and since it is critical for me, I am wondering it there is an estimated timeframe? - even if it just means setting up a full feature account now in Standard Notes, then migrating to PM it at a later time.

I agree and would like to add Logseq as an example for the engineers from Proton to have a look at, specially regarding inter-note connectivity and compatibility thanks to using standard markdown links.

There is great potential with the acquisition. But, as I mentioned, it's still far from being a satisfactory solution to the main note-taking app competitors, nor is this acquisition an alternative for working with documents such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and so on; the whole Microsoft Office and Google Workspace package.

After I saw that Proton and SimpleNotes were joining together, I came here to say the same thing. I tried their demo and it was lacking a lot of the nice features that apps like Obsidian have. Not having a tree view of all my notes and directories is a deal breaker for me.
