Put protonmail app in f-droid repository
I use replicant operating system and not android, for evident ethical and security reasons.
I don't want to use google play, because I'm against google and don't trust them.
It will be very nice to put protonmail app in f-droid repository!
This is THE ONLY THING preventing me from promoting ProtonMail/VPN to every single person I know. PLEASE enable this feature.
If you have problems with F-droid's security-model, AT LEAST put a APK directly on the website for download (together with corresponding signed hashes, but you know that already). Signal is doing this, and it is what enables me to use their software.
Android app is not open-source yet.
It would be so great with GrapheneOS!

Tutanota added its app to F-Droid a few months ago, which has unfortunately given Tutanota an advantage over ProtonMail amongst my anti Google friends.

F-droid has some security issues (see discussions around the Signal project), though I think maybe it is not that bad.
In the meantime, even though it is not 100% satisfactory, you can always use the Aurora app as a non-google proxy to the play store
Yes! Let's go with f-droid. Need to remove reliance on g00gle.
protonmail on f-droid would be great (and somewhat "obvious to have")!!
I concur! I t would be great to see the protonmail app on f-droid. Or at least to have the apk availible on the website somewhere.

The ability to download ProtonMail and ProtonVPN independently of Google Play was a key factor in my decision to sign up with this service in 2017. This was made possible through the Crashlytics Beta program, but that ceased in Feb 2018.
Since then, we've been forced to use Google Play and I feel rather duped because it was a key factor in deciding to sign up with this service in the first place.
