Every other major (and many minor) email clients have hierarchical folders - organizing emails is not a discretionary function. Proton Mail should have:
1. Nested folders (critical)
2. Unlimited nesting (important) - a reasonable compromise would be 2 or 3 levels of nesting.
3. Drag n Drop sorting (critical)
4. Search options that reflect hierarchies (all folders / sub folders / this folder) (important)
5. Color inheritance (from the top-most folder in a group (not important)
I can't fully migrate off my other emails until this basic functionality is supported.23 votes
Thank you for an very important product!
There are, however, people who do not trust the reason for SMS verification to be spam reason only. You could have a day or two for when new accounts can be registered without SMS verification. And of course, pre-announced to your current members a month ahead.
Thank you for a great product!4 votes
That would be great if protonmail provides a large amount of cloud storage (1TB or more) like google drive or one drive for emails and file sharing with reasonable price.17 votes
It would be great that we can apply newly created filters on the mailbox.

I suggest to create a new and alternative extension different to @Protonmail.com/.ch and to @PM.ME and that is totally new to register.
For example, actually if a user register firstname.lastname@example.org automatically is registered to @pm.me
I suggest to create a new:
That is not linked to existing users.
This will allow more user to obtain beautiful username.
Please support my idea and sorry for my bad english.6 votes
I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that I like to keep my number of subscriptions minimal. It's just healthy. Basically. I would pay a good amount to get a lifetime subscription on plus / pro. Thoughts?429 votes
Proton stands for privacy. Why not a phone case with a camera coverslider on the back? So you slide the cover from the camera to take a picture, but you cover your camrea when you are not using it. So no one is wathcing you from your own camera.3 votes
Outlook provides the ability to set rules for automatically archiving email based on age and folder/label. Rules like this allow a user to keep their mailbox clean and reduce storage utilization.
It would be fantastic if we could set the following:
1. A default auto-archive age for all mail.
2. Set custom auto-archive ages for a certain folder or label that overrides the default.
Even if the default is set to "Off" for everyone, I'd love this ability.12 votes
Forcing to have the automatic signature is just annoying and will not convince me to upgrade to a paid subscription given that i can simply erase it everytime.6 votes
I have donated some $50 when it say "Prove you are human" But I have gotten no upgrade. I used a credit card and paid $5 ten times at least.
I have already donated over $50 when it says "Prove you are human"..I use my credit card. I have never gotten an upgrade.1 vote
I would like the ability to preview an attachment paper or image before downloading it to my PC. It be possible for the email to act as the download space prior to moving it to a PC. This way, we can see what people are sending us before we actually download it.3 votes
how about an automatic spell and grammar check when sending e-mails2 votes
I have an iphone and would like to integrate proton mail with IMAP so that I don't have to have proton mail as a stand alone app.
I have an iphone with an Outlook account and would like to integrate proton mail with IMAP so that I don't have to have proton mail as a stand alone app. This would also allow me to select a sound when I receive an email instead of defaulting to iphone's one and only notification sound iphone uses for all of its apps.6 votes
In ProtonMail v3.15.27, we can choose wether or not to sign external messages in Settings > Security > External PGP Settings (optional).
Each time I have to send a message to a recipient that does not support emails with unauthorized attachments, I have to change this setting.
It would be great if we could configure this before sending a message.
There is a similar feature for encrypting emails, which is accessible through the lock icon at the bottom of the message editor.
It would be nice to have an option to put your phone contacts into groups and then export only that ones, instead of individually picking each one or exporting all.2 votes
When it comes to paying for ProtonMail goods and services, where does the money go? IF I had a say in it, I want the money to go making this email and it's related services even better for it's customers, not just for making Andy Yen, Jason Stockman, and Wei Sun money, frankly. There has to be a way to get them profit consistently, and keep our security and privacy consistently over years. So long as you abide by Swiss laws and standards, and can be held accountable higher up consistently, ok. You're based in Switzerland and do the above, that's fine by me. I don't live in Switzerland. As customers, then we know exactly where you are and what happens when it comes to company activity, unlike Google, for instance.
I'm already even more happy than I ever was using GMail, and I want to keep it that way for all of us customers. If that means I throw you guys a few dollars a month/year eventually, ok! Sounds fair to me!
That being said: If that's what one of your aims is, to break the wheel of Google's monopoly and cruelty, that would be BEAUTIFUL! Can we be de-Amazoned, de- Appled, etc., as well? You guys are doing some awesome work I really can go for: you're breaking that wheel. It's bold!
I'd be one of the first people using the Office (word, ppt, excel, etc.) alternative if this keeps up! I already am a big proponent of Protonmail.
