  2. answer vía SMS

It would be interesting to have the possibility of receive an advise via SMS when a message is received, and also have the possibility of replay this SMS so that is not necessary to login to reply the e-mail.

  3. Login with mobile TAN

there should be an option to send a mobile tan (text message) to a mobile phone number. the login is only possible with the login password AND the sent mobile tan.

it is an additional security step and with this option you are automatically informed if someone else wants to log in your email account

  4. Messages "Saving..." and "Saved to Drafts" should not move the writing box

When the messages "Saving..." and "Saved to Drafts" appear and dissapear, they move down and up the tools bar and the writing box. I think this is a bit annoying. It would be better if these messages appear in the bottom of the screen or if they had a proper place.

Other suggestion: the left row (Proton Mail logo, Compose, Inbox, Drafts, etc) could be narrower and to leave more room for the mailing frame.

  6. Promotional banners

Not exactly an original feature, but I would love a button or banner for my website to encourage visitors to use ProtonMail (and also explain the funny .ch domain in my email address!). I think people using my website would appreciate knowing they can have secure email exchanges with me.

  7. Option to delete (encrypted) private key from server (use browser storage instead)

The encrypted key is stored in browser storage and only transmitted to the server by request of the user (or at least he has a checkbox somewhere to not upload it). As long as the key is on the server the user can download it (= log in) to new clients (like it works now). If the user has set up all his clients he can request to delete the key from the server (he should be advised/forced to download a backup copy then). Actually proton mail could basically stay the same for most users. You would just give some…

  8. ProtonMail security features with other email services.

Allowing customers to use ProtonMail features with a gmail account with advertising auto message, "This gmail message was processed using ProtonMail high level security" attached. That service would be huge. I'd even pay for such a service where I could use my gmail account to send a ProtonMail secured message. It's a pain to change over primary email provider to ProtonMail. Everyone wants security, but the difficulties of notifying all their contacts about a new email address is daunting.

  16. Remove the limmit for attachments

I do not understand that attachments are limited to 15 MB. It will be a huge improvement to remove the limit so we are able to sent larger (for example PDF) files.

  17. On your web site you could have a better explanation of how Proton Mail works.

The current explanation of how Proton Mail works that is on your web site may be fine for people who already understand it, but for others it amounts to little more than "trust us." I am hardly a dummy (I served out my indeterminate sentence in a world-class graduate school), but the whole thing is clear as mud to me. I never understood PGP in its previous incarnations either. A clear exposition of how PM works would make it more popular, I am sure.

  19. Increase polling frequency for new messages

Most mail services poll for new mail at regular intervals. i.e., I send a new message to my gmail account, and it is visible in gmail generally in 15-120s.

With Protonmail, I waited for over half an hour with no updates. A page refresh brings up new messages, but of course this isn't particularly convenient.

Auto-mated polling with a higher frequency should address this.
