  1. Post-Quantum support with Codecrypt

Hello Proton, I have a suggestion to add "CodeCrypt" for Post Quantum cryptography, also known as "PQCrypto".

  2. Web Key Directory support

I propose adding support for modern key lookup - Web Key Directory.

ProtonMail could automatically lookup recipient's key when composing e-mails via WKD and add that key to the contact book.

Some e-mail clients like Enigmail or Mailpile do it that way. There are providers already supporting this like posteo.de and some prominent organizations like kernel.org and gentoo.org

Openpgpjs has support for WKD lookups since version 3.0.12: https://github.com/openpgpjs/openpgpjs/releases/tag/v3.0.12

  3. Reminder to encrypt mail to non protonmail users

Sometimes when sending email to non protonmail users, you forget to encrypt them. Especially when you end up having a conversation with many replies, if you type a quick response it's very easy to forget to set the encryption password for outside users.

It would be very useful to have a setting to alert me if I'm trying to send an outside mail without encryption, similar to what happens if you forget to type the recipient, or a title. It could be for all outside mail, or just for the case when you are replying to a conversation that started…

  4. kill switch (auto destruction)

It would be cool if we could set up a special password.

If we enter it then it completely erases all emails.

In many non-democratic countries, we are obliged to give our password during police interviews.

If you don't give your password, you can be arbitrarily stopped for an indefinite period of time.

Therefore a killswitch solution would be extraordinary.

For more credibility this killswitch must work with the 2FA.

We can't be blamed for having an empty mailbox.

  5. Send from alias address

Simplelogin allows me to have emails sent to an alias email address. There is no way of sending of email from protonmail from that alias address though.

  6. Manual "Expire" (Self-Destruct) Button

Manual "Expire" (Self-Destruct) Button allows the user to manually expire an email at any time or expire a self-destruct link before the expiration time.

As it is, let's say your recipient received your private link and read the message one hour after you sent it, but the self-destruct time was set for 48 hours. The email link will still be accessible until the expiration time. A manual Expire button would resolve that.

  7. Reply with address that received message by default

Right now when you reply to an email, it will use your default address/profile. Would like an option that makes it so reply tries to use the address/profile that received the email first, and falls back to the default if it can't resolve that.

almost 95% of my thousands of (generated) e mail addresses passing threw abine.com / blur... what happens if their server is down?

would be nice if there would be a least an other competitor

why not include on prontonmail.com ?

  10. Filter notifications

It would be nice to be able to turn off/on notifications for various emails. Probably the simplest solution would be to add one additional action for a filter next to Apply Lebels, Move To, Mark As we could also have Notify.

This would be very handy for some notification from busy mailing lists, where one would only want to get a notification when an email is directly addressed to you, or in a response to your email.

  11. Allow **only** using security keys as 2FA

I was very excited to see that security key support was added! Please now allow me to disable the authenticator app -- I only want my hardware keys as my second factor.

  12. Selective bounce feature for privacy

To protect privacy, proton user can make it appear that his account does not exist to all but those he prefers to get email from. I know hackers have attempted to identify accounts on mail servers by spraying them with likely mailbox names. The proposed option would allow a user to bounce incoming messages (SMTP code 550) unless the sender is on the list of people to whom he has sent messages in the past. If the the PM user wishes to review this list and remove certain people later, he should be able to do so. Optionally, allow limits…

  14. Enable Onion-Location

    New Release: Tor Browser 9.5:

Website publishers now can advertise their onion service to Tor users by adding an HTTP header. When visiting a website that has both an .onion address and Onion Location enabled via Tor Browser, users will be prompted about the onion service version of the site and will be asked to opt-in to upgrade to the onion service on their first use.

  16. Add default switch to show images in email

I would like to see a switch for the default action of the "show images" function.

In the preferences section, a switch could be added with 2 options:

    1. Always show images
    2. Ask (this would be the same as it is now).

With option 1, images in the email body would always be displayed.

  17. being able to set the timezone

Setting timezone instead of taking it from system.
I think there is a real privacy issue of including the system timezone on emails for webmail (please help us understand if this is not the case).

Could this please be based on the timezone the user-specifies (or default to system/browser if none is specified).

  18. Allow adding a calendar invite to Proton Calendar when the email isn't in the participants list

I often use email aliases when communicating with unknown contacts or agencies. When they send me a meeting invitation, the alias would be in the invitation list, but not my Proton email address. Adding these invitations to my calendar is usually a hassle. Proton does not add them automatically and usually a message would appear with no further options: "Your email address is not in the participants list.".

Proton should be able to allow a one click option to add these invitations to my proton calendar even when my proton email address isn't in the invitation's participant list.

  20. Send from any address of custom domains if catch-all in enabled

It is now possible to send an e-mail using any alias account+alias@customdomain.tld
It doesn't seem possible at the moment to send from anything@customdomain.tld unless an address was created for it, regardless of catch-all.

I wish that if I can receive to any address using a catch-all, to reply from any of those addresses.
