How can we improve Proton Mail?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.

  1. Remove/Update misleading and false claims in paid plans - Custom domain - Users

    I am requesting that the seemingly deliberately, misleading claims of Protonmail Plus and Protonmail Visionary be updated to reflect clearly that the "5 ADDRESSES" and Custom Domain Support does not actually work as most people will interpret it.
    I have been inspired to ask having read https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/284483-feedback/suggestions/12484953-multiple-accounts-for-same-custom-domain

    It seems that the 5 addresses are not in fact 5 user accounts that can be used with a custom domain but in fact 5 alias type addresses that can only be used by one person. It also seems that only one person can use the custom domain address.

  2. Add an option to remember the login and password on the android app

    I would love to have an option on the android app to remember the login and login password. It's tedious to have to retype the login + login password + mailbox password every time the app is switched to the background.
    Also, it could be used to check for new messages in the background, even without the full app running or without the mailbox password entered.

  3. keep it simple

    Please keep Proton mail a simple mail client. Maybe with folders and stars. But not like a hundred different inboxes and auto categories and crap. Gmail really jumped the shark recently and made it super hard to keep track of any email.

  4. Create an easy option to unsubscribe from newsletters

    Like Gmail, it would be good to have an easy link received emails to easily unsubscribe from a newsletter.

  6. Minimize ProtonMail Bridge to system tray on startup

    Currently the Bridge opens a window on the desktop upon startup. It should have an option to start minimized in the system tray, similar to other services/

    Make it possible to indicate custom domain email address as 'main' address and have it as default when composing new emails from the web interface.

  10. Delete individual entries from shared recurring events

    It's great that you have added the ability to delete single events from a recurring series! However, it's not possible to do this with external calendar invitations. It would be very helpful to delete only one instance of a recurring event that I have been invited to rather than having only the option to delete the entire series.

  12. Stop automatically add to contacts

    When i send a mail to someone on my own hosted mail server, people are not automatically added to my contact list, I don't expect other services to do it too. Let it be a setting user can set.

  13. Show Display Name in Front of the Email Adress, not the Username

    You can change your Display Name, but it won't show in the Emails of the Web Interface. In front of the Email Adress is always the username. I think it would be awesome if this would be changed.

    Accounts created before January 1, 2016 have both protonmail.com and protonmail.ch addresses. You can change between the two in the settings of your account. You can create a new account with protonmail.com domain when you originally create your account by selecting that domain from the drop down menu.

  15. Tray icon for Bridge

    For the Windows Bridge app: The ability to minimize Bridge to the system tray, to keep it from taking up space in the taskbar.

  18. PLease supply am simple Home page without an Inbox distraction, show mountain only.

    Please show a more simplified Home Page, no Inbox or invitation. A mountain with a strong Key as a symbol would look great. Present page being received here in NZ shows a part of an Inbox and busy distracting page which comes across as unprofessional...

  19. Bring back Protonmail.ch

    You just changed all my logon automation by redirecting protomail.ch to protonmail.com without ANY announcement. Why not change it back?

  20. How about the possibility of developing multiple grouping boxes or filters to group mails? Not by conversation, by contact or organization.

    I wanted to be able to group all my mails related to work, or my researches into a single separated box, just to keep track of them in a less messy environment.
