Forwarding email from protonmail
It would be great if we had the option to forward email to other email providers. services.

There's clearly something I don't understand... I can manually forward all my emails, so why not allow auto-forwarding? Please find a way to make this happen. Protonmail is a great product but the absence of such a common feature seems inexplicable.

Please, look into this. I just migrated my domain to ProtonMail and my brother (using the same domain, wants a different provider) is stuck with "I promise I'll send you your e-mails when they arrive in your folder in my inbox". He doesn't care about encryption, just wants to receive e-mails "to his old inbox".

Any progress on this feature? Auto-forward is an incredibly necessary function for email, can't believe this doesn't exist for ProtonMail. Its what is keeping me from paying for the Plus or Professional upgrade.

I understand that forwarding can be problematic. However, what most people here actually seem to need is routing. Citing Greg Heitz below: Such a feature should be possible, since changing the delivery address should be an event before encryption (ie before reaching the recipient mailbox).
A similar feature exists on Gmail: https://support.google.com/a/answer/2685650Are you going to implement routing? I don't need it now, but if it is not on the roadmap, I will change to a secure email service that has it. For example Mailfence, Mailbox.org or Runbox

Please look into this. It would be as easy as enabling the "redirect" function in Sieve filters...
I need this!!

It's ridiculous this is isn't available. I need to be able to auto forward specific emails. Please enable this asap. I never realized such a simple thing wasn't available, I'll have to move some votes to this for sure.

Love Proton. Please add ability to setup forwarding to other email accounts.

I would appreciate this feature.
I find that I forward most emails to Evernote.
What's the possibility of it happening in the foreseeable future?

Just came to vote on this one. Need to forward my business linked domain support emails to my Spiceworks instance to manage tickets, etc. Seeing this, I'm forced to move my business email off of proton. Sucks because not many other deal breakers outside of maybe better mobile functionality.

I saw in 2016 you said that you were going to develop this as a feature - how long does it take???

This is another deal breaker for Proton for my business. We have many external connections to our email (support desk, marketing, press, etc.) and not all email addresses have the same privacy rules. I'm frankly shocked this is not possible - it's one of the most basic features of any mail system.
There is another thread (as of Dec 2021 there are 347 votes there) so this is a much more popular topic than the current 671 votes show.
Other thread (please use this thread that you're currently reading, and not the thread I include after this sentence - we should focus votes on the most active thread) https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/284483-protonmail/suggestions/15931744-forward-mails-based-on-filter?page=1&per_page=20

This would be an incredibly useful, and pretty essential, thing to be able to do.
Frankly, I'm pretty surprised ProtonMail has missed out this functionality so far, it's a pretty basic feature, with some business-critical uses.PLEASE look to implement it asap.

If I set up my MX records for use by ProtonMail then it becomes necessary for ProtonMail to handle all of my email needs including forwarding email that I don't want protonmail to deal with.
I have multiple email address forwards set up on my existing domain. Those include forwards such as "support" which I forward to my ticketing system, and "contact" / "sales" that forward to specific business services such as a CRM.
I fully understand that those emails will not be encrypted but I do require them so that I can move to proton mail and still have my clients contact me at a single domain.
Without this automatic forward functionality I can't switch to ProtonMail.

Another vote for forwarding functionality.

This is so important and so long neglected that I've begun looking at PM alternatives.

It would be very useful to forward email coming into one address to another address, especially when another person needs to receive the mail.

Really, the lack of an option to automatically forward incoming emails to another account, with or without encryption, leaves a lot to be desired and prevents the use of PM as a primary service.

I am trying to forward an email before I open it .. and send it to someone else unopened so that the mail will be opened for the first time on the receiver's end. How can I forward an unopened email? Gmail allows me to use such a feature. I do not see a way to do this on ProtonMail

I like SquirrelMail can you provide it? If not, then offer forwarding FROM Proton Mail to my favorite ISP that offers SquirrelMail. OK? thanks.

This email forwarding filter / rule is a must have for some business (automation with other apps in my case).
I will have to move away from proton mail just for that (at least for my business account and go back to Gmail).
