Hide 'Spam' and 'Trash' from 'All Mail' folder.
Currently the All Mail folder displays trashed and spam emails. Since this is a good folder for getting good overview of all mails (including those in potentially many folders) some users (like me) use it a lot. It can be very disconcerting to see trash and spam in there, and defeats the purpose of spam and trash.
Thanks to your collective feedback, Spam and Trash emails are now excluded from the All Mail folder. You can control this behavior from Settings > Messages and composing > Exclude Spam/Trash from All mail.

I believe the same should be applied for "archived". I started deleting emails instead of archiving so they wouldn't show up on my "all mail" but just now I needed to search an email and just got reminded why I delete them all.

I agree with the anon commenter who said to leave it as it is. BUT, I think it would be great to be able to hide it, especially on mobile apps and to choose NOT to include it in IMAP.
It's useful to have all messages in one place for searches and the like, but I create folders and labels for a reason, and to have this take up space when I have to scroll down to the folders I actually want to see is not user friendly.

I concur that there should be either a Toggle for "Include / Exclude Trash", or maybe a second Automatic Search Folder that Doesn't Include Trash

Agree with toggle on/off for Trash folder content under "All Mail".

I agree with this, but also agree with another comment that it could be an option that you could toggle on/off.
I would also like the option to choose which folders are shown in the side panel. All mail is something that I would probably choose to hide.

This is essential to making All Mail useful; I was so confused the first time I deleted a bunch of mail and it was still there. I understand that this is slightly off from "all", but the whole point of Spam and Trash is to get those emails out of your working area.

I agree. But also add a setting "Include Thrashfolder" for the users that wants the Thrashfolder inclulded.

I would really like this feature too, it's probably my biggest bugbear with using PM.

I disagree. The "All Mail" should be as it is. The reason is: When you throw stuff into your wastebin, you can still find things there after you threw it in there - all until the wastebin is purged.
There are things which could be done differently though:
* Have a (persistent?) setting to show deleted mails or not in "All Mail"
* Have a "saved search" feature which is kinda like a folder, but it performs a search when you enter this "folder".Both of these could be used to achieve the same without expecting everyone to adhere to the same view of what "All mail" should contain.

Thanks for requesting this feature.

"All Mail" should not show contents from the "Trash" folder.

From a users perspective, showing emails from "Trash" will create a lot of usability issue while clearing the "Inbox" -

drafts, sent, spam and trash are all showing in "All Mail" (folder) is there a way to hide them or to selectively show which ones you want shown in the "All Mail" (folder)?
(like creating a little check box for which items in the "All Mail" (folder) you want to see.

This is number 1 for me by a mile! A website hack exposed one of my aliases and I get so many spam mails that my “all mail” folder could just have been my spam folder. It feels like I have 2 spam folders now.

ALLMAIL is nice - but I don't really want to see the SENT | TRASH | SPAM emails in it... Provide a very similar system folder - but do NOT include SENT | TRASH | SPAM emails in it. This way it operates as an incoming email folder. Here are the advantages:
- I can filter for all unread messages easily.
--- this way - all my other filters that move messages to other folders - can be seen in a single place as UNREAD... w/o having to navigate emails that are not incoming (e..g: sent | trash | spam.I've come up with the name: INMAIL for that folder (incoming emails)
Ideally you could have options as to what folders to include (or leave out).
Another solution is just to give those options to ALLMAIL. So people like myself can remove SENT | TRASH | SPAM from it...
Either way ...

Having the ability to Hide specific folders from All Mail would greatly help to customize and compartmentalize the workflow.
It's helpful to see all emails at a glance in All Mail, but I don't want to see some folders (e.g. spam, trash, sent, and some of my own labels)This could be done with a simple toggle in the Folders Settings.

Usually when i go into the All Messages view i want to go through recent messages or unread messages. Messages in the Trash and especially
Spam folders are already marked as of little interest.I would like the option to configure the "All messages" view to exclude certain folders, such as Trash and Spam (and maybe even other additional folders i created). As this would technically no longer be "All messages" one could also put this into a new category of "Relevant messages".

Perhaps one way to solve this problem is to allow hiding certain folders from IMAP clients. I would be happy with hiding the All Mail folder that way.

I concur with the rest of the crowd - I like to add junk email addresses to my Spam filter, particularly when they keep emailing me after multiple 'unsubscribe' attempts. Is there a way to avoid seeing that folder (and Trash I suppose) in the All Mail folder?
