Proton Contacts mobile app
Hellove!
Yesterday I used Google Contacts (and/or the default Huawei contacts) app on my Android phone.
Tomorrow, I will use the secure and lovely Proton Contacts app for Android (and possibly iOS - there are probably iOS users who would want this, too).
From this Proton Contacts app, I will also be able to do my regular calls, browse call logs, see favourite contacts and groups for contacts, and utilize a search function for it all.
Please strongly consider making this tomorrow today, Proton Team <3
Thank you!

Hello Proton Team,
getting away not only from Google, other Freemails but also - at least since they started (trying) to put backdoors into iOS and icloud (Calendar, Contacts, Email, Data) is not even encrypted: getting away from Apple is also paramount:Therefore, Proton PIM (Personal Information Management) is really, really important:
integrated contacts, calendars and email functionalities - proton style and proton security with evolving functionalities. One more kind request: all information must be capable of being downloaded acc. to standards like ical etc.
Do this, keep and improve your standards and you have me for life. I´d also pay for this unless you wouldn´t become greedy.thank you !!

Please build this. It's very annoying to go through Proton mail-app to my contacts and THEN to the phone-app. Also if I get called, I cannot see, who's calling me, without having the numbers in my android/google contacts. So it would probably require a PHONE-App with contacts included, instead of a plain contacts app.

!!!!! PLEASE !!!!!
Make a "Contacts" app similar to Google's so I can get rid of Google. Until then, I cannot!!!
We need our contacts integrated with email(already is) and phone(for dialing and call history) and calendar(like b-days & anniversaries).

I just realized I really need this. I can't delete google contacts (I really want to) and get to my Proton contacts in my phone/SMS/etc. Android doesn't link into that system.
Anonymous, combined contacts just brings contacts from your phone into Proton, It doesn't go the other way around.

With more than 50 contacts on the list it is not easy to find one in particular. So it would be good and very popular to create sub-folders . For example sub-folders devoted to family contacts, friends contacts, press, administrations etc...

As the topic says, it would be nice if contacts wasn't just a widget but an app itself. This is aligned with: https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/284483-protonmail/suggestions/32521357-sync-contacts-with-phone-address-book
A "stand-alone" app that can be synced with the device contacts and globally integrated with ProtonMail, ProtonCalendar and ProtonDrive.

I like these ideas. I would add: ability to select contact(s) from a drop down in Calendar to link an event to that contact and have a searchable log of such events; and or create an event in Calendar linked to a contact, directly from the Contact's file. Currently contacts management on Android devices relies heavilly on Google Contacts or other shady apps. A ProtonContacts App would help much.
Sub-Idea: A ProtonContacts app shouldn't expose every information. It should be possible to set in the backend (ProtonMail?) what fields ProtonContacts shows. So we could fully use the Contacts Feature and save PGP-Keys or whatever we want but the ProtonContacts App on Android would (for example) only show Name and Phone-numbers. -

I would also like to add a few things, the current contacts app isn't really that useful. Here are somethings I'd love to see:
You are unable to search contacts by organization, location, notes, ect. For example, if you asked me to find you a contact that worked at Protonmail's Geneva office, I wouldn't be able to search that for you and find the people in my contacts that fit that criteria. I'd have to dig through each contact and read the info to find it. If you asked me to help put you in touch with a Javascript developer, I wouldn't be able to search that in the contacts and send you a list of people who I left "Javascript dev" as a contact note.
When you leave notes in the contact, you can't do bullet points. I like to use this as a CRM and leave notes like "just moved to NY", "Met on 5/2021 on Clubhouse", ect. I like to use this app because most CRMs are kind of awful from a privacy standpoint. If you try to do dashes and press enter between bullet points, it ends up in one big paragraph and it's a mess.
The contacts currently only allow for phone number and email. Yes, us privacy conscious ProtonMail customers don't like social media and all of that garbage... but the thing is we often meet people who have them, and respond faster through that, so it's helpful to have input fields for that.

A dedicated application to save our contacts outside of the Apple calendar or Google account to set it as default on our devices .

Have a standalone Proton Contacts app that can grant access to other apps (phone and messages).

This is a feature i am looking for. Currently I use Google to store my phone contacts and as I don't trust on Google with this data I'd like to store it somewhere else in the cloud. An app that would integrate with ProtonContacts would pe perfect for that and I would certainly pay for that feature.

I use iPhone (but the need can be applicable to any Android smartphone).
I would like to use my Protonmail contact list (email/telephone number) instead of iOS contact app in order to manage my contact.
However, it is not easy and fast to access to Proton contact (you have to click on Proton icon > authentificate > menu > contact) so 4 steps before reaching contact instead of 1 click for reaching contact iOS app.
Improvement : access to Protonmail contact in 1 click (2 maximum by including authentification).
Same thing for the futur Protonmail calendar. -

Hi Proton, thank you for a great product so far!
I would like to see a Proton Contacts app to replace Android apps Dialer and Contacts.
With features like:
- encrypted storage on the device itself (business usage)
- call history
- - optional integration to relevant email threads and vice versa
- pin number option (like in ProtonMail app), with allowance for selected parts of the app without pin:
- - allow dialer
- - allow call history
- - allow selected contacts (or groups) visibleThank you.

EDITED POST:
So the main advantage of contacts in ProtonMail is that it is end-to-end encrypted, whereas, the default contacts in mobiles are not.
The syncing with phone contacts is also a no go, as the contacts gets stored in default phone contact which is not secure (gets synced to cloud like iCloud or Google Cloud). It would defy the whole purpose of encrypted contacts.
Therefore, either making a dedicated ProtonContacts app or making APIs for other programs to connect with ProtonMail's contacts is a better choice. Mainly the dedicated app or API should allow only one-way access. That is, the phone calling or message service will access one-way with the app or API foe incoming/outgoing calls/messages. Those services will neither store the proton contacts in the default contacts nor edit the proton contacts.
