Proton Contacts mobile app
Hellove!
Yesterday I used Google Contacts (and/or the default Huawei contacts) app on my Android phone.
Tomorrow, I will use the secure and lovely Proton Contacts app for Android (and possibly iOS - there are probably iOS users who would want this, too).
From this Proton Contacts app, I will also be able to do my regular calls, browse call logs, see favourite contacts and groups for contacts, and utilize a search function for it all.
Please strongly consider making this tomorrow today, Proton Team <3
Thank you!

Contacts having phone number support without contacts having an app for phone kinda threw me off. +1.
Would help make migrating from another provider easier. Without this another provider's contacts app has to be used(like google/apple) for phone/daily life and keeping proton's contacts up to date thus becomes a dubious chore.

Very Important to me. I have to continue using Google Contacts. For this reason I need to sync manually. Not really practical. I would be happy with a barebones app. Nothing special. I would even accept, if it is just a read only app for now. All better than the current state.

This feature would make it a lot easier to recommend ProtonMail as a service to friends and family. It would also make my own life much simpler and more secure.
The app would be nice, but the most important thing is sync with the contacts apps on iOS/Android.

I'd love to get away from Google's contacts app (which is not bad, it's just... Google)
and I would love nothing more than to be able to rely on my primary email provider to house my contacts remotely and securely -

Whether you make a separate app for the contacts or leave it as it is, that the contacts are in the mail app, is a matter of taste.
What would be more important is that the contacts that you enter there are then also available as contacts in the phone, e.g. when you use the phone app.
I would also find it practical if the appointments that you enter under contacts (e.g. birthdays) are then also automatically entered into the calendar.

To further migrate away from Google, contacts needs to be fully featured in ProtonMail and replace the contacts app in Android, including integration with the phone app

First, I would like to see contacts be made into its own application, that will work with other Proton applications seamlessly, but also on mobile devices as a stand alone application. I want to do away with Google Contacts, and use Proton Contacts for privacy & security.
As far as the contact fields go, we need more…
We need to be able to add personalized dates to a contact such as: Birthday, Anniversary, & Death that work with Proton Calendar.
We also need to be able to add a web-address & social media links to a contact.
We also need a relationship field added to a contact. A dropdown selection that consists of or similar to: Family, Friend, Colleague(co-worker), Acquaintance(friend of a friend), Client, or Contractor.
We also need to be able to add a work profile such as work-name, work-number, work-address, work-email, work-web-address to a contact.
Finally, instead of a simple name field, change it to a Nickname, First, Middle, and Last Name fields. If possible, allow us to sort alphabetically our contacts list by first name or last name, with nickname(if not empty) overriding first or last name.

I'd like to migrate from apple but am tied to it as proton mail contacts doesn't allow my phone to see the contacts and the format feels very 1987 in terms of fields and ease of use.. and the inability to code a type of contact unless there's an email is outdated given how many folks most text

I'd like to see Contacts separated out into it's own service that Proton Mail and Calendar would make use of when filling out details of a mail or setting up a calendar invite.

Completely agree. I have my main list of contacts in Google Contacts to be able to have them available through any of my phone apps.
But when composing emails in the browser app or any desktop email client, I don't have my contact list up-to-date with my main contact repository.
With a Proton Contacts app, we could have our list available throughout. -

The contacts aren't integrated at all in the phone. I also abandonned this feature of ProtonMail because it's a lack of usability.
You may also consider add a dialer application in order to replace the default one in Android, so at least it's possible to have some kind of smooth integration.

I don't necessarily need an app for this, but I would like to sync my protonmail contacts with my phone's addressbook and therefore keep both up-to-date. Perhaps one could compromise by adding a function that disables syncing for specifically marked contacts (and therefore keep them only in the proton contact list to warrant no leakage and guarantee privacy for that contact).

An app would be okay. I'd far rather have a reliable and regularly tested CardDAV server (which works with default Apple Contacts and default Android contact app).
Something must be done, as there's no way to securely and privately sync contacts with almost anything now. Contact sync is a huge hole in the Proton services.

For all of you waiting to get out of google:
You don't have to wait for protonmail to do all the lifting.
Just search for "degooglify" and you will land on pages such as
degooglisons-internet.org or framasoft.org which have everything you need
(and which you should support) -

Also you need a standalone tab with a full contact browser/manager, right now being able to access contacts only from a popup within mail is very confining and makes it hard to manage contact records efficiently, especially since it closes the popup after every contact action!

I can't move away from Outlook.com without having parity with being able to sync my contacts with any device I log in on.

Hello Proton Team,
getting away not only from Google, other Freemails but also - at least since they started (trying) to put backdoors into iOS and icloud (Calendar, Contacts, Email, Data) is not even encrypted: getting away from Apple is also paramount:Therefore, Proton PIM (Personal Information Management) is really, really important:
integrated contacts, calendars and email functionalities - proton style and proton security with evolving functionalities. One more kind request: all information must be capable of being downloaded acc. to standards like ical etc.
Do this, keep and improve your standards and you have me for life. I´d also pay for this unless you wouldn´t become greedy.thank you !!

Please build this. It's very annoying to go through Proton mail-app to my contacts and THEN to the phone-app. Also if I get called, I cannot see, who's calling me, without having the numbers in my android/google contacts. So it would probably require a PHONE-App with contacts included, instead of a plain contacts app.
