on web, when we click on attachment, it downloads to computer.
we don't always need to download the attachment.
if you can provide a way to view the attachment when clicked on it and download the file would be optional. -

I switched to ProtonMail and really enjoy it, however the inability to view a document without downloading it is driving me nuts. I thought I had the settings incorrect, but see others have this problem too. I don't have it with any of my other email accounts. The nature of my work requires me to view documents constantly from many different people. It takes too long to download then navigate to the file to open. Many times I have downloaded the same document because I like to access them from the email thread and not my hard drive. Please, I beg you to add this feature.

I switched from gmail.com to protonmail.com recenty.
I don't miss the shared documents that much, but being able to preview the attachments is such a basic thing to add.

I would like this on my PC, it reduces space required, I do not wish to download all of the attachments, I then have to use my mobile phone to read first

Employees in my organization rotate through different locations and use shared computers for our daily work. Not having the ability to preview attachments and autodownloading them to the PC is a breach of security and defeats the basic purpose of ProtonMail. Especially when less computer savvy employees do not realize that the attachment is stored on the hard drive and accessible by anyone. For those who do know it is stored on the hard drive, having to delete it then empty the recycle bin is a pain in the ass. This is a basic feature of many email programs. I can't believe that is has been in the planning phase for nearly 5 years.

Protonmail need this to compete with gmail and no longer look like some random webmail. It is tough (not to say a deal breaker) for a gmail user (i use it as my work box and receive pictures/pdf regularly) to lose this.

I would like to be able to browse through the attached pictures without downloading them. Gallery of pictures in all the emails would also be great. This is really small effort to implement but the functionality is really usefull. It would be sufficient for start to have a button that would embedd all the picutres that are attached to the e-mail at the end of the message for preview.

I second the comment on why this has to take so long. I started using the beta because I assumed this basic functionality --available in the apps-- is not in the desktop version.. why?

AMEN! Is this on the horizon to provide this feature?? I have a TON of attachments in my work and my download folder is massive and cumbersome without this VIEW feature. Let alone the time savings.

I started using Protonmail and was confused as to why I could only download attachments and not view them. How could so basic of a functionality be absent? Needing to move over to another desktop window and open or unzip all attachments is cumbersome. Please consider adding this ASAP.

Agree. I can't believe this isn't something more people want to see. Having to download and individually view attachments in another desktop window is very cumbersome. Has no one here used gmail? When you click on an attachment, you can immediately view it.

I was in the process of getting someone to use Proton Mail instead of Gmail, but they balked at the lack of pictures showing up in their Proton Mail. I think they wanted the thumbnails and things like that. It was emails they were getting from a website called Goodreads or something like that.
Is there any way I can help them make more pictures visible in their proton mail emails?
