How can we improve Proton Mail?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

  2. ProtonMail can become much more attractive to students and people in science and engineering if it supports mathematical equations

    At the moment some websites (like https://physics.stackexchange.com) provide a simple hypertext format to write mathematical equations. The site I mentioned uses MathJax, a powerful code with permissive license able to render mathematical equations elegantly.

    I guess that implementing this idea is not difficult but the result will be fascinating to a large group of people.

    Maybe ProtonMail which is rooted in CERN will be the first email provider to include this feature.

  4. ability to stay signed in

    i would like to be able to stay logged in all the time when i leave my account on my personal computer so i dont have to log in every time i want to go to my email

  5. Remove "Empty folder".

    It's a bit unnerving to have an "Empty folder" function on folders that may contain important archives.

    I'd like the option to be able to turn "Empty folder" off for certain folders. That way I could perhaps still use the function on a folder filled with advertisements, but never risk clicking it by accident on a folder filled with receipts.

    Please allow for sorting of Contact Groups. Alphabetically instead of the default sequential would be a great start!

  7. Email in the full screen, please.

    Around 20% of the screen is taken by toolbars. Very annoying :(

    I would like to be able to read and write emails in full screen, please.
    (unless it's already possible and I just don't know where to click....)

  9. Select-All Search Results Actually Selects Every Result In Your Inbox

    Currently, when I select all results from a search, Protonmail only selects those on the FIRST page. This doesn't help when doing mailbox cleanup and there are 1+ pages of search results. I'd like Protonmail to select every resulting email regardless of the number of pages so that I can delete every email in the results. For example, when getting rid of daily emails from a service that results in 200+ emails in the search results, I have to click on each page, select all, then delete. There could be 10 pages of results. This makes deleting all the messages…

  11. Setting for line spacing

    There should be a setting for line spacing. I composed a message using MS Word 2013, then copied and pasted it into the body of a new email, and Protonmail eliminated all the blank lines, such as between paragraphs. Those blank lines were in there for a reason. I have looked and not found a way to avoid this. It should be possible to copy and paste a message written in MS Word into the body of a Protonmail email and have it appear exactly the way it appeared in MS Word, with no formatting changes. Please add this feature…

  14. When composing new mail, the spacing between lines is excessive. It appears almost 1.5 lines spacing. How can we compress the line spacing?

  15. 'No Subject, send anyway?' pop up improvement

    When you get the "No Subject, send anyway?" request pop up window, you should allow the option to enter a 'subject' directly in the window & 'confirm' directly instead of 'cancel' etc...

  16. move the "All Mail" folder far away from the Trash folder

    Please (For God's sake) move the "ALL MAIL" folder far away from the TRASH folder! You have it directly underneath the Trash folder and I've accidentally emptied/deleted "all mail" twice now thinking I was emptying my Trash folder. So now I all my inbox mail is permanently gone.

  17. UNIFIED date format like YYYY-MM-DD

    EVERYTHING is mixed up right now in the UI.
    For example, look at Created - it uses the european format with slashes. The header uses the american format etc.
    Please use YYYY-MM-DD for consistency.

    Allow for a setting to disable automatically saving drafts every few minutes or however that it setup.

  20. Display the total mail count

    Total number of mails should be displayed in the mailbox. Currently, only the number of pages are displayed. But, the number of mails feature is required. Like for example, 1-10 of 50. 50 indicates total number of mails and 1-10 indicates number of mails in current page.
