How can we improve Proton Mail?

  1. Default screen for Android app

    When proton mail starts, open in a folder view rather than the inbox.
    Folder can be selected or just last opened.
    Allows much better utilization of filters.
    I use separate email addresses for work family and other and have filters moving to separate folders.

  4. Total unread email badge count for iOS when using filters as well

    I set up some basic filters last night to assign the associated senders to specific folders.

    I noticed although banner notifications still show up upon arrival, the total unread numbered notification on the Protonmail icon no longer shows, unless I open up the app where the numbering does show next to the folder. Right now the badge count only shows for unfiltered mail that lands in the inbox.

    Is there a way to set this up where I can have the total unread badge count show up on the protonmail icon on the iOS homepage AND the correct badge count…

  5. Proton Bridge for iPadOS

    The new Proton Mail iOS app is terrible on a larger screen (iPad). The Apple Mail app is superior in both design and performance. Could Proton please develop a Proton Bridge app so we could use the service with the native Apple apps?

  6. ProtonMail mobile does not show title for calendar entries

    ProtonMail mobile does not show title for calendar entries when sending calendar notifications via email as it does on desktop. This requires an extra step to go to the calendar to see what the event is. Changing this behavior for mobile would be helpful. Thanks.

  7. Redesigned Android PM App: When writing new mail, capitalize first letter of sentence by default

    After the redesign of Protonmail App on Android, whenever I write a new mail, the keyboard isnt set to write a capital letter in a new senetence.
    Normally in other apps and the old PM when I write in a new line or begin a new sentence after a period, my keyboard would automatically turn on capital letter, so that the sentence doesnt start with a small letter.
    With the current functionality I have to manually hit the shift button on my smartphone keyboard for a capital letter to appear. This is counter to all standard functionality in all other…

  8. Keyboard shortcuts for iPad

    Hi,

    I’ve been a long term user of proton, both on the web and on iPhone. I recently got an iPad with a keyboard, and realised that the iPad app does not support keyboard shortcuts.

    It would be great if we could have keyboard shortcuts for the iPad version of the app. They could be the same shortcuts that are already available on the webapp, like M to move to folder. This would greatly improve my, and other people’s productivity with the app.

  9. Inapp browser for protonmail app

    Protonmail Android app do not have inapp browser , Like when we clicking link from our mailbox the mail opening on phone's default browser it would be nice if the link opens in "inapp browser " so after visiting the link we can come back to mailbox quickly .

  10. Able to filter by sender on mobile

    I as a mainly move user would like to filter my mails, depending on the sender.
    This is basic use case.
    You register to a website, which is sending you a tons of mail. And you want to filter those mails in a specific categorie or delete them forever.

    Actually I need to login to the desktop interface ( not tested on web interface for mobile only with web app)
    Hovever it would be great to have away to do this directly inside the app

    And of course if it is possible to do so, I encourage the community to…

  11. Nested folders in Android App do not display correctly

    The nested folders feature is great, as long as you are using the web app. I've created a hierarchy of nested folders with a couple of main folders, each with several sub folders.

    The problem is that the Android App shows all folders in a flat structure, no nested folders like in the web app. The folder colors don't inherit the color of the parent folder either.

  12. improve color/contrast for protonmail on android

    i have protonmail for android on a POCO F3 and i find it very hard to read emails. there is almost no contrast between the 3 types of grey: email title, sender and background), and no option to change font (size, bold, etc). using the phone's display settings allows me to change font size, but then it is for everything on the phone, so not a good option, nor does it improve contrast.

  14. Search folders and labels in iOS app

    Currently this is a feature in the web app but not the new (as of writing) iOS app beta. I personally use a lot of labels and folders so when trying to put an email in multiple labels it is quite tedious on the iOS app as I have to keep scrolling all about the place. It would be good to have the ability to search for labels and folders when adding or removing labels from an email

  15. Android app - go to next message after archiving

    It is very tiring for me and I found it user unfriendly that mobile app goes back to the list of all the messages when I have one message opened and I archive it. There should be an option (because someone maybe likes it this way) to go to next/previous message instead after archiving. So that I can go through my new mail, archive, continue with the next, etc. Going back to the main list and selecting other message is unnecessary step decreasing UX level. Thank you very much for considering this.

  17. Deafult email app on iOS

    iOS now allows non-Apple apps to be set as the default browser or email app, and so far this works for switching from Safari to Chrome/Firefox, and can also switch default app from iOS Mail to Outlook for iOS, please can ProtonMail offer the same feature in the iOS settings?

  19. Feature parity for mobile app to mobile website

    Quite simple request: if it's in the mobile website version, it should be in the mobile app too.

    At the moment, Android ProtonMail mobile app lacks e.g.
    * conversation view
    * filters view or edit
    * labels sort
    * reliable draft saving (i.e. not having a composed email suddenly blanked for no clear reason after switching apps)

    These are all in the mobile website. They should be in the app, too.

    To be clear, this request is for full, permanent feature parity of the app. The above are just examples of current disparity.

  20. Make a way to "hide" ProtonMail, ProtonVPN on a phone

    I wish there was a way to mask or hide the existence of a ProtonMail/VPN installation on a phone. This is for cases when traveling to certain parts of the world or being in a situation where your phone is seized and you are coerced to reveal the Proton password.

    For example, VeraCrypt (formerly TrueCrypt) has the concept of "hidden volume" in which an encrypted volume/partition contains a visible and an invisible part. The hostile actor sees the visible partition but will miss the invisible one, hopefully.
