advanced syntax in search
Mail : Advanced Search Syntax, operators and Keywords
Having an advanced search syntax ("from:user@domain.com", "to:user@domain.com", "filetype:xlsx"...) would ease and speed up the use of the search feature among mail or other apps. Many competitors propose such feature but search engines (like Duckduckgo, Brave, etc..) might also be inspiring for a powerful search syntax.

Advanced PGP Key Management for Proton Mail Users
Description
Currently, Proton Mail allows users to manually add PGP public keys to external addresses only.
This creates several limitations for users with more complex encryption setups or personal key hierarchies.
Problem 1: Limited Manual Control
Users cannot manually specify whether an email should be:
- Signed only
- Encrypted only
- Signed and encrypted
Instead, Proton Mail enforces a fixed default behavior per contact.
If a user wishes to change how messages are sent, they must manually adjust the contact’s encryption settings each time.
This slows down workflows and complicates secure communication.
Problem 2: External Keys for Proton Addresses
Some Proton users…

„Reminder“ function in Proton Calendar
I think it would be really useful if I could set a one-off event in Proton Calendar. Apple Calendar calls this a ‘reminder’. It’s very handy if you’re meeting someone at a specific time, need to be somewhere at that time, or simply want to be reminded.

Make swiping more fluid, just like in the old Proton Mail app on iOS
In the old version of the Proton Mail app on iOS, you could easily swipe a message to delete it. Now, when you want to delete a message by a quick swipe, it stops and shows you the bin icon. Only when swiping again, or clicking the bin icon, it deletes. This is not as intuitive and by far not as satisfying.

Please allow passkey login to ProtonMail (some of us use something other than Proton Pass as our password manager).

Shared ownership over a shared Calendar to allow another user to invite new users
We're using Proton for our company and have a shared calendar for holidays etc. In order to manage the shared calendar we would like shared ownership over a shared calendar or a shared calendar owned by several people.

Open attachments in a separate tab or window
It is already possible to preview PDFs and images in attachments. I propose a feature that would allow to open attachments in a separate tab or window. This way it would be possible to view attachments and read emails at the same time. At the moment, doing this requires downloading the attachment and opening it in a separate application. This should be optional behaviour and the user should be able to choose how they wish to view attachments.

Forward email as an email attachment (eml file incl. email headers)
Currently, Proton Mail allows to forward emails only as inclide cite (without - correct - formatting, and without email headers).
Please add the possibility to forward emails as an email attachment (email incl. email headers as an .eml file attachment) as well.

A setting to optionally include the "From" email address in the Inbox View
There should be a setting to optionally include the "From" email address in the Inbox View (in addition to the email Display Name, which is the default).
I feel that not having this as an option is a security vulnerability. Here is an example: a local company (vet, physical therapy, chiropractor, etc.) outsources various aspects of online client interaction (feedback surveys, OTP, appointment reminder, billing, etc.) to various 3rd party companies. As a result, I receive emails from 4-5 different companies that all use identical Display Names ("XYZ veterinarian"). I have gotten used to the idea that it's normal to…

Smart Autofill Suggestions for Event Titles & Locations
I’d love to see Proton Calendar add smart autofill suggestions for event titles and locations based on previously created events, similar to how Google Calendar handles event creation.
Example:
If I previously created an event called:
“Jake - Hanging out”Then the next time I create a new event and start typing:
“Jake”Proton Calendar would automatically suggest:
“Jake - Hanging out”If there are multiple past events starting with “Jake”, it could show a dropdown list of matching previous entries. The same functionality would also be very useful for the location field.
Why this would help:
• Keeps naming…2 votes -
Optionally mark email as read when archiving
I'll often go through a bunch of newletters and archive them, often without reading them. When I do, they still appear in 'All Mail' as unread. It would be good to optionally be able to 'Mark Read' when an email is archived.

Drag a calendar item to make it longer (not just move it from one time to another)
In Outlook and iCal, you can go to the bottom of an event and drag it down to extend the length of the event without opening it. It saves a lot of clicks when you know something is just going to go longer or it's a work-block you want to extend. Not a huge game changer but saves little clicks.

Name the color labels in calendar so I remember what I chose for a category
I love being able to use colors for a category of meeting in calendar (red, blue, etc) but then I sometimes have to look back and confirm what I chose for a previous type...would be great if we could rename then from the color to "school", "work", etc.
I can't see whether someone already posted this since there are so many ideas suggested. Sorry if it's a repeat.

Allow users to generate separate SMTP credentials to enable secure third-party integration
Note: This is a different request than the similar SMTP Token customization.
Problem Statement
Currently, Proton Mail (including Proton Bridge) uses the same authentication credentials for both receiving and sending email. This creates a security risk when integrating third-party services:
Single Point of Failure: Any service with my credentials can send emails from my account No Safe-by-Design Option: Even if I instruct an AI agent not to send, there's no technical enforcement Least-Privilege Violation: Services that only need to read/process mail shouldn't have send capabilityUse Cases
…AI Email Assistants: Sort, prioritize, summarize incoming mail without send risk Automation Scripts:2 votes -
Allow for Adding Custom Proton Meet Links to a Calendar Events
It doesn't appear that users can edit a calendar event with a Proton Meet link that is not auto-generated. I am never the host for meetings and due to privacy concerns we do not share emails or send calendar invites. It would be nice to have the built-in Proton Meet Conferencing option support manually adding links.

Excluding folders from mail content search
I would like to exclude my folders from mail content indexing and search. I keep my old mails (100k+300k pcs) in specific folders and these make content search totally useless: indexing took several weeks, and searching simply doesn't work.

Native "Free/Busy" Website Embed (Bypassing Google)
Dear Proton Team,
I am a dedicated Proton user relying on your services for privacy. However, I am facing a major hurdle in using Proton Calendar for my business workflow.
The Problem: I need to display my availability to clients on my website (e.g., Wix, WordPress). Currently, there is no native way to do this. The only workaround is sharing an ICS link to Google Calendar and embedding that. This fails for two reasons:
Sync Latency: Google updates subscribed calendars very slowly (up to 24 hours delay), leading to double bookings.
Permission Conflicts: Google treats subscribed Proton calendars as "read-only"…

undo button
It would be nice to have an undo edit button like most Microsoft programs. A button with a cylindrical arrow that undoes the last edit made, and stores them so one can go back multiple steps. Keyboards are so touchy that, especially if one is not a great typist, is easy to highlight an entire section, for instance, and replace it with the next thing one types. Being able simply to undo a catastrophic mistake rather than having to retype entire paragraphs would be a useful feature. I don't need to be punished for my typing errors--I know my typing…

Reply to email with aliases
When replying to an email, and it was sent from an alias, auto select that alias, so the person knows who it is from. Having to manually select an email address can get tedious. A toggle could be added to allow this behavior or not.
