  1. Android app should require Decryption password on logon/periodically

It seems that the phone remembers the decryption key and stores it in some non-volatile memory so that it can show you mail as soon as your phone turns on. I'd like an option that ProtonMail requires the key on first-open so that if my phone gets stolen noone can see my messages. Signal (whisper systems) offers this, and also offers an automatic re-encryption after a configurable idle time

  3. "User Defined & Secure Folders" are not "nice-to-have" they are an essential part of any email system. Without it, the email "is a gadget"!

"User Defined Folders" are not "nice-to-have", but they are an essential part of any professional email system. Without it, the email system will remain "a gadget"!
    This is a given and a must-have!
Protonmail can however further differentiate itself from other emails on the market by having these folders "secured".

  5. Expiry time - Finer time increments

It would be useful to allow expiry time to include 15 minutes, 30 minutes and 45 minutes. At present, the shortest available expiry time is only 1 hour but there are some scenarios which would require even less expiry time. This should be fairly easy to implement.

  10. Compress long recipient lists

I'm on a university mailing list run by people who don't know how to work a mailing list. One of the crazy things they do is include the email address & name of every single recipient (i.e. every CS student at the uni) in the To field.

When I view those messages in ProtonMail's UI, the "To: ..." list of names takes up my entire screen. Other email UIs tend to show the first three or so, then have an "expand" button to show the rest on demand.

  11. Before 3.0 you could paste a picture into the body of the message without browsing for it and attaching it. The former supports OLE..

You supported object linking and embedding via the ability to paste pictures directly into the message body without having to save an image in my clipboard to my desktop and browsing for it via your picture attachment icon in v3.0. Please restore this capability. Having the capability allows quick composition of emails when screenshotting. Thanks for being a leader in private communication!!!

  12. User support

User support, obviously misleading in the title. Is there a possible way to open this system up to a more distributed base for servers?

I am a student in the IT field, and i love running servers and doing many open source type things when i have resources. I would love to host a server to help with the issue of supporting new users. I understand their might be security and logistical concerns. However, if this could be packaged in some way that allowed the user base to help provide servers in a secure way i would do this. Perhaps…

  13. Tag sets that function as radio buttons

I'd like to see linked tags that behave like radio buttons (only one can be applied at any time; speeds processing).

I believe that by extending your tagging system in this way, you'd multiply the usefulness of your application. By implementing this functionality as tags, you give the user the flexibility to customize their experience in a way that programming into the UI would not.

    To create a tag set:
    1. Users create tags as usual (e.g., 2do or Location)
    2. If they want a group of tags where only one can be applied at a time, they add a…

  19. go back to the old look, as in the 'look' we had a week ago.

Go back the the last look - this one is too hard to read (due to the light blue & white, & the small font) on the sign in page; and the look of the emails isn't as clear as the previous set out when you get in. Also, this san sarif font is harder to read.
And when will aliaes's be available?
And not a complaint - glad protonmail exists.

  20. Mobile client password timeout after X time or screen lock

The mobile client is great but it should have options to either timeout to make you reenter your passwords/decrypt password after X time... and/or logout automatically when screen is locked, etc. Currently when you login, and use both your passwords, the mobile client stays open and logged in. If someone were to get your phone they would have complete access to your email account. Currently the only way around this is to manually logout before you use your phone for anything else. (android but i'm sure it works the same on ios)
