"All Mail" should not show contents from "Trash" folder.
"All Mail" should not show contents from the "Trash" folder.
From a users perspective, showing emails from "Trash" will create a lot of usability issue while clearing the "Inbox"

I totally agree. It's kinda annoying when searching only to realize you're searching in trash!
thanks for sharing this information with us. it is very usefull for me. https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/284483-protonmail/suggestions/43603476-when-deleting-email-individually-automatically-go
There are at least 2 scenarios how this could be resolved.
1) Possibility to exclude specific folders from "All mail" (trash, spam, archive, etc.).
2) Possibility to put default folders under custom ones.
Lack of this feature is really annoying for me. For example, I have 2 additional folders which contain forwarded mails from my other email providers which I don't want to mix with my default inbox.
Looks something like this:
- Inbox (primary protonmail inbox)
- Folder1 (contains mails forwarded from email X)
- Folder2 (contains mails forwarded from email Y)
There are no possibility to check all these folders together without showing trashed, spam, archived mails.
Instead, I need to check each folder separately.
Indeed. And also not show content from 'archive' folder.
This should be a user option. Putting EVERYTHING into the ALL MAIL folder is a deal breaker for me. I would end up with thousands of mails there. Just not well thought out. I changed to a different client that is able to be configured the way I want it, not the way the supplier THINKS it should be.

Yes! Please fix this!
Agreed. And I'd say this goes for threads, and search too.

I agree with the anon commenter who said to leave it as it is. BUT, I think it would be great to be able to hide it, especially on mobile apps and to choose NOT to include it in IMAP.
It's useful to have all messages in one place for searches and the like, but I create folders and labels for a reason, and to have this take up space when I have to scroll down to the folders I actually want to see is not user friendly.
What about archived messages?
I like the idea presented in the comments of having a button to include/exclude trashed messages and I think the same could affect archived messages: simply a checkbox to include (or not) archived emails.

I concur that there should be either a Toggle for "Include / Exclude Trash", or maybe a second Automatic Search Folder that Doesn't Include Trash
Agree with toggle on/off for Trash folder content under "All Mail".
I agree with this, but also agree with another comment that it could be an option that you could toggle on/off.
I would also like the option to choose which folders are shown in the side panel. All mail is something that I would probably choose to hide.

I agree. But also add a setting "Include Thrashfolder" for the users that wants the Thrashfolder inclulded.
I disagree. The "All Mail" should be as it is. The reason is: When you throw stuff into your wastebin, you can still find things there after you threw it in there - all until the wastebin is purged.
There are things which could be done differently though:
* Have a (persistent?) setting to show deleted mails or not in "All Mail"
* Have a "saved search" feature which is kinda like a folder, but it performs a search when you enter this "folder".
Both of these could be used to achieve the same without expecting everyone to adhere to the same view of what "All mail" should contain.
Thanks for requesting this feature.
Hope the Devs will see this request and implement it asap.
