Task/ To-Do List

I sort of initiated this subject a few years ago. At some point they made some changes to the way the forum works and I was never able to get to my original post. Anyway, I couldn't agree more with gnasthey37 comments.
For years, we (paying users) have been asking for this feature as it's the only little piece missing to finally get rid of Google and Microsoft for good. Embedded very deep in a roadmap shared by Proton early in the year, they said to be working in a huge overhaul of the bundle which would finally include this feature. I sort of remember they were targeting Q3, 2025. Hopefully that plan is timely executed despite all the distractions (wallet, authenticator, ai, etc.). -

They released Lumo, which no one asked for and requires being paid independantly from Unlimited or higher plans that are supposed to have premium Proton services included with them, I get the idea of Lumo given the advances in AI currently and it's good to have a privacy focused AI, they also released Authenticator, which also no one asked for, but I get the idea of it too, they also released Wallet which also no one asked for, we haven't had any news about Standard Notes either, nor about apps that are actually requested like this Tasks apps, a lot of people including me are still forced to use Google Tasks or similar apps that are in no way private because Proton are focusing on things no one asked for and not actually doing what paying customers need
Don't you guys notice the path you're going with? Too many services to manage, too many services that require independant payments, no one asked for Lumo to begin with and now you're causing confusion about whether it should be included in Unlimited and making unlimited a bit more expensive or not since not everyone uses AI
Please focus on the more important services paying people ask for, Lumo is fine, Wallet is already included in Unlimited, Authenticator doesn't need a subscription, so now please focus on actual services that we ask for and include them with Unlimited, thanks

At the time of this post (7/31/2025) Proton has released three apps paying customers did not ask for. Wallet, Lumo, and Authenticator. Then to make matters worse, despite being well over a year now at the time of their announcement, we still don't know what's going on with Standards Notes. But I digress...
The lack of a Tasks/To-Do List app is approaching the realm of absurdity. Personally, Proton is beginning to shake my confidence. Especially since they say they're led by what the customer wants. Being a paid Proton Business customer since 2018, I find this to be disheartening.

I'm a heavy checklist user. A Proton version could be a huge part of my workflow.
My wife and I are on different OSes, but both on Proton. A Proton ToDo app would let us share grocery lists (etc) again without needing to install a complex 3rd-party app like Todoist.

I would like to share a shopping list with my significant other. Thanks!
Compared to a private AI assistant, this should be an easy thing so solve, I hope '^^ -

PLEASE fast track this feature, I desperately need a private synced reminders/to do list app!

This would be a game changer for me to continue moving away from Google/Microsoft tools with this functionality.

That would be an absolute gain for the individual workflow and collaboration.

Proton Tasks would be absolutely great and I think it'd be good if it was integrated into the Calendar but as a distinct type. So the Calendar would show me my events as blocks for example (doctor appointment from 12pm to 1pm, meeting from 1pm to 1.30pm...) and my tasks as lines maybe (pick up the mail at 1pm). Tasks should allow a lot of information (notes, link...).
Then I'd get a reminder for each task in due time and it would keep appearing until I mark it as done, so, if my device needs to reboot, my pending tasks still appear afterwards. There could also be a button to reschedule a task if it can't be done on the spot.
Of course, a task could also be recurring at a customisable frequency (daily, weekly, monthly, Monday to Thursday...)

I really wish to not use Google calendar. But I need to make tasks and see if I didn't completed them yesterday. Without tasks I can't use Proton calendar, that's a too crucial feature to me.

I can not completely transition to the Proton ecosystem until it offers a Task/To-Do application.

I've been adding events and updating the incomplete ones each day as a workaround, but I'd like something like google tasks, where they automatically move to the next day to keep them in your face until you mark them complete.

A task/ to do functionality is for me a must have. Including a strong widget for my iphone.
When the task/ to do functionality is available, I can fully swicht to Proton. -

I have been using proton mail and Calendar for a long time. I want a separate Task/To Do List. I don't want an option to check in proton calendar. This is very disappointing.
How difficult can this be?

@C
I totally disagree with you. Dont make assumptions about people/users you do not know. You do not know which other Proton apps and since how long they use it, and simply refrain from switching to the Calendar app as long as it is missing certain features. -

It's interesting that many of these new feature requests are made by people "looking to switch" to Proton Calendar - thinking that such features are all that are missing for them to do so.
Those of us who have *already* switched know that there are many other much more basic things that are missing or broken, like inability to properly edit/delete instances of recurring events etc.
Many of these things are not at obvious until you've properly started using the product. I hope the Proton team has some way to view feature requests specifically from paying customers to help prioritise things to work on. Otherwise you risk pandering to a larger group of people who are not yet paying customers while potentially losing the smaller group of people who already are.

In Google Calendar I was using tasks quite often and I would like to be able to do that in Proton Calendar too.

Yes! I use apples reminders but would love it all in the same location since I always look at my calendar. Plus a notification in the app would help instead of an email reminder.
