Reinstate IKEv2 protocol for iOS
IKEv2 is native to iOS.
I know there a security issues with the way iOS implements this protocol on iOS.
But… since often ( in my case as well) a lot of apps offer services which are actually a vpn protocol. Like an adblocker for instance.
Now… I use to be able to setup 2 vpns simultaneously. One protocol and one personal. This because IKEv2 is native to iOS.
Now I constantly have to switch!
Please use a middle ground in this case.
Reinstate the IKEv2 as a protocol option, but warn users of it’s drawbacks.
Everybody wins.
Thanks

Split Tunneling - Make selected apps or IP's VPN-only
When using split tunneling you are able to select which apps or IP's you want to be routed through the VPN. Would it be possible to to also make the selected apps or IP's only work through VPN? This way if the VPN goes down these apps would blocked but you wouldn't need to kill all internet traffic. This is a feature that Private Internet Access has.

More Toronto Servers
I currently live in Canada and geographically closest servers to me are in Toronto. However, with Toronto having relatively fewer servers and with average server load throughout the day remaining around 70-80% or more, It has become quite frustrating. I'm an 'always-on VPN' user, So I keep on having to check the server load and re-connect to a server with lower load manually (even that is somewhere in 70%+ range), as there is no option to automatically switch server to lower load in IOS yet. This affects me significantly since I have 3 Gbps internet connection.
Please kindly consider adding…

Custom DNS should be able to be profile-level, not only app-level
I have a custom DNS at home. I still want to use VPN and for the most part, your app allows this via the Custom DNS configuration. However, I need to manually change that whenever I leave home and use VPN elsewhere. It'd be nice if I could quickly choose between two profiles, one that is just proton-managed defaults to use outside my home. The other is one I can choose when I'm at home and want to use my own DNS (i have locally hosted services I'd like to still be able to access, my own domain blocking, etc).…

UPnP Port forwarding support
Support port forwarding using UPnP so that applications can transparently and directly request port forwardings without needing manual configuration.
Also please add UPnP support, so that applications can query their public IP address.

LAN subnet allowlist in macOS client
Add an allowlist of LAN subnets for local routing (macOS). I switched from the PC client, which allows a list of allowable private IP addresses to bypass, to the macOS client which only has the generic "Allow LAN Connections" toggle switch. The macOS client has a lot less functionality and customization: It only passes-through on the current local subnet. If you are on a more complicated local network that includes VLANs, for example if you are on the 192.168.0.x side, you cannot go to 192.168.1.x or 10.0.0.2 or 172.16.0.2, etc. It would be nice to be given the option for…

Profiles: Select Multiple Countries
I would love if there was a way to select multiple country servers for a random pool so when I connect I know I'm connected to one of the preferred countries but a different one each time.

More profile customization with independent features (MacOS 13+)
I would love if we could create a profile with different configurable and automatic combinations allowed as well as multi-select options. So for instance say I wanted to connect to a p2p server in whatever country (don't care) I cannot currently just do that, I need to specify P2P then specify a country rather than random or fastest option (for country selection).

Country-specific config for wireguard
For OpenVPN it is possible to download a country-specific configuration file which - when used - connects to the fastest available server.
Please provide country-specific configs also for wireguard - currently I can only download a config for a specific server in a country.
Thank you!9 votes -
Revert changes
VPN accelerator, LAN connections, split tunneling, and Moderate NAT, most important being able to select a country (US, Japan or Netherlands) now you have zero choice and get put in a country with no data privacy laws for example.
The marketing people really hit Proton hard over the last few years you see more and more features being eroded away from free users. I thought the paid users supported the free users in their business model? was that not the ethos of Proton VPN years ago? Everyone has the right to privacy?
The blatant limitations being imposed makes you wonder…

Static Port forwarding
Please change the dynamic port forwarding to static port forwarding why:
In my BitTorrent client I have +200 torrents, dynamic port is boring because EVERY TIME I connect to a server I have to change the port in the BitTorrent client settings and the re-announcement is really long for all my torrents.
Please add to the ProtonVPN dashboard panel or in the application, the possibility to add static port like MullvadVPN do, example for the ProtonVPN Plus plans add the possibility to add 10 random forwarded ports.
Plus static forwarded port may work if you use the manual configuration: OpenVPN…

DNS encryption (DOH, DOQ, DOT)
Critical for who wants to use a secured custom DNS. Even more critical for ones using services like NextDNS, AdGuard DNS or Control D

Add the option to disable the connected taskbar icon overlay
I have a very minimal taskbar with custom icons for everything, and this doesn't fit the theme. I'm sure there's others that have a similar problem and would like to be able to turn off the icon overlay for when connected. I think the option to have only a disconnected overlay or both would be useful too. I'm always using the vpn so the normal state is the one alerting me with an icon and the abnormal one isn't.

Unblocking every outbound port on protonvpn's https proxies (web browser addons)
Some websites use a port which is not 80. And, for some reason, those are blocked by ProtonVPN's HTTPS proxies used in their browser addons.
This is a request for unblocking it.1 vote -
Add a toggle to your auto renew feature
Add a toggle auto-renew to your subscription plan. The lack of it gives a semi-predatory vibe that feels out of place in such a trusted and professional company. I understand this may cause losses but your product needs to be more than just a pretty UI. People get VPNs because they don't trust that everyone is continuously monitoring their data and you need to make your company reflect the trust that your customers are looking for.

Make F1 TV compatibility available in other country than US server
F1 TV compatibility should be available in other country than US. At least one country by continent. Because For European, it will be too slow to connect to US.

By improving your ad blocker filter list
I did an ad blocker test on https://d3ward.github.io/toolz/adblock.html.
- With VPN turned on I only got 74% of the ads blocked.
- With VPN turned off and enabled DNS 176.9.93.198 (dnsforge.de) 93% of the ads are blocked! Your VPN service overrides the more powerful ad blocking DNS of dnsforge.de. Please improve your ad blocker.
