"Random" option when creating a profile
When creating or editing a Standard VPN Profile, you select the country and then are given the option of "Fastest" or a given city/server. ProtonVPN used to have the option of to select "Random" here as well, ie a random server from within a specific country, but that seems to have been removed. Please add that option back.

Add more owned/secure core servers
Please add more secure core servers in different countries.
Personally I am from Euro and my closest secure core server is at >2000km. I think you could dedicate some of the incomes in reinvest your Secure Core infrastructure by adding a bunch of secure core servers in each country (Deutschland, France, England, Italy, Spain, Portugal... and of course out of Euro too).
If every country has a bunch of Secure Core servers we all would has a lower latency because distance and less populated Secure Core servers.1 vote -
Small suggestion from a Free tier user 🙏
Hi Proton VPN team,
Love what you’re doing with the Free tier—it’s honestly a lifesaver for privacy newbies like me! But I’ve got a tiny suggestion (okay, maybe not that tiny) that I think would make a huge difference: Any chance we could get Netshield DNS—or even custom DNS—on the Free plan?
I get why some features stay Premium-only, but here’s why this one feels different:
→ Free users need basic protection too!
I use Proton daily to dodge sketchy trackers and ISP snooping—but without Netshield, I’m still exposed to malware sites and creepy ads. Letting Free users block the…1 vote -

Reconnect option for active profile.
Please add an option to reconnect the active profile. Right now, if I'm using the Fastest Country profile, and I see that my server load is high, I have to disconnect and then connect again, leaving my network open for a second.
I assume that a proper reconnect button would avoid any lapse in VPN coverage.

Local DNS doesn't work with custom DNS
Local DNS is not using the local interface correctly when paired with split tunnelling and custom DNS servers. Public/cloud DNS providers are reachable when placed in custom DNS but you cannot tell ProtonVPN to utilize the local DNS source on the local interface.
You can work around this by placing entries in the local hosts file but this is a small sub-set of the issue that can be worked around.
Old post where Proton Admin says this is resolved here: https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/932836-proton-vpn/suggestions/36087631-allow-protonvpn-to-use-existing-lan-dns-custom-dns

Split tunneling file selection dialog used to remember the last folder you selected, now it defaults to documents
This is very useful and was included in the previous version, now we have to constantly navigate to appdata for re-adding discord since every discord update comes with a new folder and executable

Copy forwarded port from the tray icon menu
With the new Windows app, copying the port can get a bit annoying. Currently, the way to copy the port is by opening the app, hovering over 'Port forwarding', and clicking the copy icon. This adds a lot of unnecessary delay, like waiting for the app to open or for the flyout with the port to fade in.
Adding a 'Copy port' entry in the tray icon menu would be a quick and easy way to quickly copy the forwarded port number.

Better description of server locations, and add to start up services.
So I use the vpn for geo location services as much as privacy. I use mostly Canadian and U.S servers. However I noticed the US servers have the state in their name (eg. US-NY#131) while the Canadian ones are just CAN#131. Can we add the city to the description here please. eg CA-TOR#131, CA-MON#131 etc. This would make it so much easier to chose which server I want. Doing so on all servers would be helpful.
Also in Linux have an option to add to start up would be nice as well.
Thanks

Linux beta client: Allow server ranges for the text options
Currently, one can set two different text boxes in the beta Linux client: "Auto connect", which accepts country codes, a specific server (such as NL#42) or "FASTEST". And then there's "Pinned tray connections", which accepts country code or specific server, multiple entries, comma-delimited.
While we're waiting for a better GUI, I would like to have the option of picking a specific range of servers for "Auto connect", such as: US#18-25 (for example).
As well as for "Pinned tray connections", choosing a ranged server entry would pick the best option within that range. A typical "Pinned tray connections" would look like…

Make a Lite version of Proton apps (VPN, drive, mail, e.t.c), for people on older android devices like android 5 (or even android 4)..
Since the majority of proton apps need a minimum of android of 8 and 9 (except for calendar), I think this would be a good idea for both sides (customers and business). People on lower/older end devices get to use proton services, which also leads to the point of more potential customers. Would really like this to happen. kind regards
