Ability to give write access to third party apps
As of my understanding, third party apps can only read files from the Proton Drive cloud (Android). It would be nice if they could also write if you choose to. In my case, I would use it to save a keepass database back and forth.

Receive an email summary of comments made in a proton drive document
Just like in Google drive (makes it super handy to see an overview of comments on a large document without having to scroll back through and find them)! (LOVE the proton docs, so beautiful... thank you for all your hard work!)

Please return "password protected read-only" shares that the new feature "Manage user rights on shared files or folders" removed
Since the highly requested "Manage user rights on shared files or folders" was implemented, the option to password-protect read-only shares was removed. The current sharing mechanism requires people to create a Proton account, and it is not always feasible (I work with a group of technologically limited people, most of them will never create a Proton account). The public share link is still there but I need password-protected links for the data I share (copyrights issues, working with a singing group). Thank you!

Proton Drive Android: free up local space by deleting backed-up photos
Make it easier to clear local storage space. Some options to add:
Filter photos to show only those that are still on the device.
Sort by file size.
Select multiple photos/videos and delete local copy.Another possible option: auto-delete local copies of photos and videos after X days, if they have been successfully backed up. (Do not forget to check for successful backup in all of these cases. Sometimes videos are not backed up for whatever reason.)

The syncing confuses me. I'd like it to work like Mega.
So, I've been using Mega as my cloud storage provider for many years. I was waiting until Proton Drive introduced camera uploads to start using. I gave it a shot, and I realized a fundamental problem. The Drive doesn't seem to have "one space" for all my things. There are "My files", then "My computers" and then "Photos".
This makes absolutely no sense to me. In Mega, I have one space and I can select which folders I want to sync to my PC, I can select which folder I want to use for Camera uploads from my phone.

Single Environment For All Proton Apps.
With the proper vision and effort, Proton’s industry-leading encryption and great reputation could change the world of computing. Let me explain.
Proton could be like a desktop (for PCs) and a Home Screen (for mobile devices). This "Desktop" is a file manager and a browser (automatic VPN).
Native (one click/tap) apps: Contacts, Email, Messenger, Notes, and Calendar. All seamlessly integrated.
No more need to keep swapping apps and environments. Inside the "Proton Desktop", the user can look up or save a document (PDF, MP3, MP4, MKV, etc...) either locally (his/her own computer/phone) or Proton Drive.

Empty folders status icon: Either green checkmark or not propagate to parent
Currently, an empty folder gets a blue cloud icon, which is then inherited by the whole parent folder tree. This is misleading, as it makes all parent folders look like having a sync problem. So I'd suggest to either
* Give empty folders a green checkmark icon or
* Keep the blue cloud icon on the empty folder, but do not propagate it up the whole hierarchy.Thanks for considering.

Proton Doc - Export to pdf - configure style
Export function to pdf ist good, but page space ist to small. Typical is 20 .. 25 milimeter.
Second: Fonttype for Codeblock, better is Courier, Monospace or other.The best way imho, confige css-style by himself.
Export to docx is terrible.

Enable syncing from external drives that are Exfat formatted
Make it possible to sync files from external SSD's/ HDD's that are formatted in Exfat. Exfat is commonly used to use the external drive on Windows and Mac together. At this point this isn't supported by Proton Drive.

A Proton Drive that actually works
I would like a Proton Drive that actually works on Windows 11.
Issues with current Proton Drive:
-It takes a week to synchronize 1 TB of data, this is absolutely unacceptable. Why is it not able to fully utilize my available internet bandwidth/speed or hard drive speed? Why can't it sync multiple files at a time until these limits are met? It's often faster to simply download the file from the website, but even then, it appears downloads of larger (~100gb) files get throttled or fail entirely.

Public Proton Drive Folder & File Pages
I see you have the option in drive to make it shareable to anyone with the link, which is great. We currently used the same feature in our organizations google drive to make publicly accessible files visible on our website with the help of embedded iframes. I realize iframe is not the most secure implementation, but if there was some way we could at least brand the page with our organizations branding and remove the popups to try proton on the share link page, that would be a good start.

Implement interface which permits accessing Proton Drive as network share
As a Linux user I’m using duplicity/deja-dup for my local backups. This backup application also supports several protocols to access remote locations, such as ftp/ftps, nfs, ssh, sftp.
In order to make use of Proton Drive storage in this context it would be necessary to access Proton Drive via some of these protocols which would be of great benefit since then incremental backups would be possible.
Currently I can only make a local snapshot backup and then transfer the generated files as a whole bunch which takes considerable transmission time.16 votes -
Share iPhone pictures in other formats
When uploading pictures from iOS to proton drive it’s uploading the HEIC file. When I want to share images in full quality over my drive instead of a messaging service they also receive the HEIC format.
Since a lot of my friends use android it’s very complicated for them to use or impossible. It would be nice to have the option to convert them if possible for easier sharing.

Propagate HEIC preview from "photos" to "my files" & "computers"
Currently, the photo backup option in iOS works correctly and backed up photos are previewed just fine in the web portal. But, for some reason, when this same photos are uploaded to "my files" or "computers", the HEIC preview is not available. I guess it's a pretty quick fix to enable that preview in those sections too, since it's already working on the photos section. Thanks!

Delete button within (iOS) Photos app
Often, with automatic upload, photos are uploaded from my iPhone to the Proton Drive Photos app that really have no need to be saved but that consume precious drive space. To delete these photos from the app, it is needed to open PD in a web browser to then delete them. It would be wonderful to be able to delete these expendable images directly in the app on the iPhone.

Upload files from App
Allow the app to selectively upload files, not synchronize from a device. The current iteration of Proton Drive is not useful for backing up, because if a file gets deleted locally, the change synchronizes to Proton Drive. Therefore, it is useless.
