2. Proper Lumo mobile apps

   Lumo needs a proper app. Every other Proton app is designed to integrate into their respective systems, but Proton Lumo is just a web app, and it works just as well as any web app, which means not as well as it should. Lumo needs more love in this department, a proper mobile app.

4. Have a monthly calendar view that displays a month ahead of the current day

   In the current month view, when you are nearing the end of the month, the vast majority of the screen is taken up by past events and therefore often not very useful. Have an additional view that shows the month ahead from the current date.

5. binary file type parsing

   According to Lumo, uploaded binary files are only read as a first snippled, and this is no different in the Lumo+ version. Hence, an Excel table or a pdf cannot be parsed or only the first few lines, rendering the function useless. Pls, parse full files. Output of Lumo:

   File‑type handling: I can read the first few lines of a text‑based file (CSV, plain‑text, JSON) that you upload, but I cannot open binary formats (PDF, DOCX, XLSX) or run arbitrary parsing libraries. Your annual‑report PDFs and the Excel workbook itself are binary; I can see the file name and a tiny preview of a CSV‑style export, but I cannot extract tables or numbers from them.

9. Link to Proton Drive Folder Sync’d with Proton Drive App Desktop Folder

   Background, Integration, and Scenerio:

   Lumo Project:
   I am working on a project with Lumo and have files linked in a Proton Drive folder – all is good. To do this, I open my browser, navigate to the linked folder, and upload the relevant files and documents.

   Desktop Proton Drive App:
   I also use the Proton Drive app on my desktop to sync specific folders to Proton Drive – works flawlessly and the syncing is quick and efficient.

   Lumo Integration:
   Currently, Lumo cannot Link with a Proton Drive folder sync’d by the Proton Drive App. It would be vastly more efficient if Lumo could link to a folder sync’d by the Proton Drive with a desktop working folder.

   Scenario:
   I am working on a project with Lumo, I files that it can reference for the project. Rather than constantly uploading documents through a browser interface, I would simply use a folder that is synchronized by the Proton Drive desktop app and link that to the project for Lumo to collaborate with. Example, create a desktop folder such as “Lumo Project Folder”, add it Proton Drive app for syncing, store any working files in that folder, then begin collaborating with Lumo on the project. When the green check box appears on the Proton Drive app, continue the project collaboration – fast and efficient.

   TLDR:
   I want Lumo to access Proton Drive folders that I am syncing with the Proton Drive app for a vastly more efficient collaboration experience.

10. delete button (outside of settings)

    Can you please move the delete button out of the settings and into the sidebar, or somewhere? I know lots of people keep AI chats, I don't. It seems like extra steps to hide it in settings.

11. i would like to search a calendar for all non empty instances so that i can more easily edit events.

    in my specialised calendars like 'cashflow' 'garden'. I want a search option that returns 'all non empty non recurring events and the current instance of all recurring events, so that I can review the whole recurring structure more effectively.

    My name is Liese, and I am a researcher and engineer who currently uses Proton Business Suite + Lumo Business as an individual user. While using the service I noticed several points of confusion that I would like to bring to your attention and suggest improvements for.

    1. Inconsistent Naming Across Plans
       Lumo Plus – marketed as the premium plan for individual users.
       Lumo Professional – presented as a corporate‑oriented plan.
       Lumo for Business – essentially the same corporate plan but with a different name.
       Having three different names for what is fundamentally the same set of capabilities makes it hard for users to determine which plan best fits their needs.

    2. Emphasize Functionality Rather Than “Personal vs. Business”
       Users tend to decide based on what they want to accomplish, not on whether a plan is labeled “personal” or “business.” A function‑focused naming scheme would be clearer:

    Lumo Premium – High‑Performance Personal Plan
    Features: Unlimited chats, access to the latest AI models, web‑search capability, large file uploads, fast response times.

    Lumo Team Collaboration – Comprehensive Business‑Oriented Plan
    Features: Project workspaces, 1 TB of end‑to‑end encrypted storage, VPN access for up to ten devices per user, 20 custom email aliases, an admin dashboard for managing team permissions, and the same advanced AI capabilities as Premium.

    Lumo Starter – Basic Free Plan
    Features: One Project, encrypted chats that are not saved, and basic AI assistance.

    Presenting the plans this way lets users instantly match their desired feature set (e.g., “I need project management and shared storage”) without having to interpret whether a plan is “personal” or “business.”

    1. Suggested Implementation Steps Revamp the Plan Comparison Page Replace the current “Personal / Business” tabs with a card‑style layout that highlights the functional names above, each accompanied by a concise bullet list of key features.

    Run A/B Tests on Marketing Materials
    Compare click‑through and conversion rates between the existing naming convention and the proposed functional naming to quantify the impact.

    Update Internal Documentation
    Ensure sales, support, and engineering teams use the new terminology consistently, reducing the chance of mixed messaging during customer interactions.

    1. Context From My Perspective As a researcher/engineer, I frequently need to share large datasets, collaborate on project‑specific documents, and maintain strict confidentiality. Although I am an individual user, I rely on the Business Suite features (project workspaces, encrypted storage, VPN, etc.).     In portrait orientation, tables rendered by Lumo extend beyond the right edge of the screen, requiring horizontal scrolling.
    When rotating to landscape, the entire table becomes visible, but the persistent search bar at the bottom overlaps the content, obscuring roughly half of the text. This makes reading difficult, as only a narrow strip at the top remains unobstructed.

    Suggested solutions:
    Responsive Table Layout – Automatically scale or wrap table columns so that the full table fits within the viewport in portrait mode, eliminating the need for horizontal scrolling.
    Search‑Bar Visibility Toggle – Add an option (e.g., a small eye‑icon or a swipe‑down gesture) that allows users to hide the bottom search bar when the device is in landscape orientation, restoring full vertical space for the chat content.

    Benefit:
    These adjustments would make Lumo’s UI more readable on iPhones, especially for data‑heavy responses, and would enhance overall usability without compromising existing functionality.

15. Make Lumo launch instantly (reduce 10–15s startup time)

    On Android, Lumo often takes 10–15 seconds to become usable after opening the app. That delay really breaks momentum, especially when you just want to quickly ask something or continue a thought.

    In comparison, apps like ChatGPT are available almost instantly, which makes a big difference in day-to-day use. Making Lumo start faster — or at least showing the chat UI immediately while things load in the background — would noticeably improve the experience.

17. There should be a way to turn off the cat avatar

    I would love to use Lumo, but can not because of the annoying cat avatar. Lumo says it could be turned off, but gives misleading instructions how to do it. For example the Settings menus are very different what Lumo desribes and what I actually see.

    For Lumo. You can add different categories for what it can do and or search for.

    • Comprehensive = Everything

    • Basic = Just basic Information+ sources. Perfect for those who need a quick lookup of information.

    • Custom = You define what lumo will do and or search for.

    • Take a chance = Gather random information based on what you are searching for. Some of it may not be relevant though.

19. Implement Screen Reader Accessibility Improvements in the Lumo Web and iOS Apps

    As a Lumo user who relies on screen reader technology to access my iPhone, I have several suggestions that would make the Lumo app significantly easier for low vision folks to use. Because it seems the web version of Lumo behaves pretty similarly to the iOS app, I'll focus on the iOS app but do consider these same suggestions for the web app, as well.

    Make prompts and responses into single focusable blocks

    For an example of this, turn on the VoiceOver screen reader in iOS and observe how it behaves in the Facebook iOS app news feed. Although a Facebook post in the feed is comprised of many elements - user's photo, name, date/time, post contents, interaction controls, etc - it is treated like one single element. When you touch a post on the screen, its entire contents will be read from top to bottom, from user's name to content to interaction controls. When you single-finger flick left or right, you can very easily move up and down in the feed, from post to post, without having VoiceOver's focus land on every individual element of each post.
    A Lumo response is similar, being comprised of multiple elements, but using VoiceOver with it is tough because focus lands on each element, making it tedious to read through a lengthy back-and-forth conversation. Do like Facebook and make each entire user prompt and each entire response each a single element apiece. This ties into my next suggestion.

    Support VoiceOver rotar actions for sent prompts and Lumo responses

    VoiceOver includes gestures to iterate through context menu-like options based on what element has VoiceOver focus. In facebook, for example, if a post in the feed has focus, the user can single-finger swipe up and down to hear different actions for that post, such as Like, Comment, Save, Hide and so on -- essentially the actions that would be logical based on the context.
    For a Lumo response, these could be what currently visually apear below a response, like Good Response, Submit Feedback, Copy, etc.

    Prepend an html heading (h1-h6) element to the top of each prompt and response

    This can be seen in the ChatGPT web app, where there's a level 5 heading like, "You Said:" followed by your prompt, and then a level 6 heading for the response, like "ChatGPT said:". This makes it so much easier for the user to quickly locate the start of a long response or navigate back through prior prompts and responses in the conversation. Screen readers provide keyboard gestures to quickly navigate by headings.

    Use ARIA "polite" regions to indicate response generation status

    This is another idea we can borrow from ChatGPT. Once you submit a prompt, the screen reader announces, "ChatGPT is generating a response..." This announcement is repeated every several seconds, until the response has completed streaming. This helps the user know when they can reliably read back through the response and know its complete.
    When the response is done streaming, it should trigger the screen reader to read the entire response. This makes the experience with a screen reader super seamless -- I type and send a prompt, I hear an update as Lumo generates its response, and I hear the response itself once it's ready. I want to emphasize using live region elements with the "polite" attribute, not alert elements, as alert elements are intrusive and will interrupt any currently spoken text, whereas polite regions will not be spoken if the screen reader is reading other text. THey will wait and speak the region once the speech buffer has cleared.

    Display The Vertical Scroll Bar

    In the iOS Lumo app, there is no scroll bar that can receive VoiceOver focus, making it challenging to scroll through a long conversation. Please make sure the standard iOS scroll bar is available, enabled, visible, active and focusable by VoiceOver.

    While not a comprehensive list of what needs fixing from a screen reader standpoint in Lumo, these are some high-value ideas that would make the app so much easier and more enjoyable for blind and low vision users. Thank you for considering them!

20. The Whole Cutesy Cat Thing Is Annoying

    The whole cute cat thing is annoying and childish. I strongly dislike the "purring the engines to life" and "chasing digital mice" types of loading messages every time I open the app. It's not funny or cute - it's just obnoxious. Frankly I am not a cat person and don't find any of this theming to be entertaining. The suggestion here is really to not impose your idea of Lumo's personality on the user but rather let us use the custom instructions and our own prompts to guide what kind of personality we want from the tool.
