Share ProtonMail Plan for a family with multiple users
It would be nice to share my Proton Unlimited plan with my family.
Personally I don't need 500GB per person or 15 email addresses per person, and paying for those features person with a business account at a higher rate than the unlimited plan just doesn't make sense.
It would be nice to be able to enable the Multi User feature for an individual plan and allow them to allocate storage amounts and other resources to individual users as well as manage domain addresses. I could see charging a limited additional user fee for the account of $1 per additional user.

I literally just purchased the business plan because the description suggested they were not just aliases but actual separate email addresses.
Obviously, that was immediately refunded.
All the offerings and price of the plan do not make sense for one single account. -

I currently use MS365 family plan, and would switch in a heartbeat if you offered an unlimited family plan.

I can't justify the business email cost for me and my wife. I also signed up for 2 years because the unlimited said 15 email addresses, and it appears i'm out my money. Didn't realize it was one user account. 2 users would be fine, 5 would be great. even a small start up business would benefit greatly by this change.
It appears this little detail has fooled more than just me. If protonmail wishes to keep this 15 email for one user policy, a clarifing statement would be good.

Honestly for the price point for the unlimited plan, I can’t make this work without this enhancement. No way could I pay for the business plan and it’s just my wife and I and perhaps our grown kids and spouses if they want. I guess I was naive in thinking that if you can setup 15 email accounts that they couldn’t be 15 different users each with their own account. Ugh, I even paid for two years up front, bought my own domain, jumped through hoops to get the DNS right to point to ProtonMail, test it out, etc. Deal breaker is that I don’t want to have to sift through hundreds of spam messages my wife signs up for to get to my emails, nor would I expect her to do the same for mine. It’s my guess that I’m now screwed out of my money, but this is unusable for me at this point

Family plan with separate proton accounts is needed.
It could be something simple as just giving a discount for multiple accounts. Users may eventually want to leave the family group.
Or it could be sharing resources -

This is a great idea. I would be willing to pay a little more to get my wife and daughter set up on Proton and free them from Google and Microsoft tyranny. Perhaps the way to do it is to add a small fee per additional user to your account. Each user gets their own email address (and inbox, please do not make us share the inbox..) and a share of the total available storage. Storage could be allocated and managed by a designated 'family administrator'
The needs of families are NOT the same as needs of a business and lumping them together is not helpful. I do not want to pay the business account rates, nor do I want to pay for three Unlimited Plans. I would pay a little more for a "family" version of my plan; I would even buy a little more storage for us all to share under that plan. I think there are many others here who feel the same way from reading the comments.
I do love Proton though, and am so happy I made the switch!! Would love for my wife and daughter to enjoy the privacy and security benefits as well; at a reasonable price...

This is a must-have for the modern service - everyone strives to provide a family access. Promoting business plan as a "for families" option does only one thing - it kills the idea of a family sharing.

Couldn't agree more. A family account with a reduced set of features of the Business-account and for a better price. I would then add the rest of my family.

With this feature I would be happy to upgrade.

Next good step would be - Creating spaces between family members for collaboration

Must have if I'm going to make Proton my main account. I'd like to be able to share a drive account with my wife. Ideally, I could also manage email accounts for my parents who are technically inept but concerned about privacy. If you can make these things happen, I'm happy to pay a fair price.

For me this is a must have. Both me and my wife have a personal email address and share additional addresses and calendars. We also share calendars with the kids and would like to also move the kids away from gmail, but as both my wife and the kids are not heavy users, I don't want to pay too much them.

The business plans are UNAFFORDABLE for the average family, and completely UNAFFORDABLE for my immediate family of 9 individuals (Business plan minimum $117 per month payment or payment of $2,160 for 24 months). I have had control of an Internet domain for over a decade for my family, and this domain is entrenched in the Google apps system (free legacy account). I would be more than happy to transition this domain to Proton if it was affordable for my immediate family. Furthermore, I would offer these custom Proton accounts to my extended family! I never did offer our custom domain Gmail accounts to extended family members because I just didn't feel comfortable being an admin and have responsibility/liability for the security/privacy of their data. I would definitely offer user accounts to extended family if I could guarantee to them that they have complete privacy and control over their data!

Personally, having an affordable option to add a user to may account would be beneficial to get less tech closed family member to get away from less private services.
Something that would benefits individual/families without damaging the expensive business plan (for business).
Like linking a free account to a paid one, and have the option to share/give some of the paid options to the free account (few more GB, 1-2 address, 1-2 vpn connections etc)
---
But for a family (parents + kids) I think it is a must have, to be able to have something specific where the parents account can check and manage the kids accounts when needed.
It's called kids privacy and security 101.

I absolutely support this. I will buy an unlimited plan now for me. But my kids should be able to use protonmail and VPN with their own family account.
As Nathan correctly states, no one needs gazillion e-mail adresses and buying an unlimited plan for five persons is a bit heavy. When they get older and are used to proton, they can buy their own plan.

When comes the family plan with 2 or 3 accounts on the same domain. I would like to join then Proton with a payed account. But business plan is useless for me and an overkill...
