Protonmail is too expensive. Offer the option to buy features for life
I find paying 4 euros per month too expensive.
I would suggest adding the possibility to buy more features like adding more addresses, more filters rules or more GB for life.5,618 votes -
If a user misses multiple payments, the amount due should be reduced to reflect the period that a user could not access their email.
When multiple payments have been missed, users are required to pay all past invoices in full to reinstate their account and view their email. While users should be expected to pay for storage costs during that period, they should not be expected to pay the invoices in full, as they did not receive 100% of the service during that period.

Subdomain addressing on a custom domain (or even protonmail.com/ch)
I'm a heavy user of subdomain addressing, for the last ~15 years, as described here https://www.fastmail.com/help/receive/addressing.html
This feature is more reliable than the + plus/sub-addressing feature that protonmail already has, and is a unfortunately a blocking feature for me to move my personal mail to be hosted on protonmail.
I'm looking this to be implemented for custom domains, but it could clearly also be provided for protonmail.com/ch or pm.me users.
So in it's simplicity, one could register to a service with e.g. username@service.protonmail.ch instead of username+service@protonmail.ch (or e.g. username@service.mail.protonmail.ch if you want to reserve the immediate subdomains).28 votes -

Access to all features
That would be more helpful for your potential customers to have access to all features of the full version for a period of time to exercise them. With minimum access to minimum features they cannot decide if protonmail is the right choice for them.
Currently, I'm using G-suite and thinkg about moving to another service provider. This is the first time I'm trying protonmail. Although it looks promising and I like the overal design, I need to make sure it is right for us before migrating from another service provider. Your free version is not enough to help me to…

Blind Signature Payments
Implement the Chaum style digital signatures for payments.
Implement blind signature based payments. You pay for Protonmail with your CC or with a traceable crypto, like bitcoin and send in a randomly generated, blinded token. You get a signed token back, and you verify that the token was signed with Protonmail's key. Then you submit the unblinded token back with your account. As long as you use Tor during the submission process your payment to your account is anonymous to Protonmail.

Delete un-used email addresses.
I have email addresses from a deleted domain. I can't delete the email addresses until I first remove all messages from each email address. The problem is I can't get into them in order to delete any messages.
Would you please make it easier to delete old addresses.
Many thanks for the great email service.

Anonymous payment method
As noted by previous poster(s), anonymity doesn't work if using a valid credit card or paypal. There are payment services which accept gift cards and they process them as cash. This way the gift cards can be purchased closer to anonymous. (Nothing is "absolutely" anonymous, but credit cards are certainly not anonymous.)

Zeroknow
Would love a zero knowledge payment option. As it stands, payment via credit card creates unneeded risks, especially in the US, where all credit card activity is tracked and monitored

SMS for two factor authentication
I understand this wouldn't be the choice for the most privacy-seeking users, but when one doesn't own a smartphone, the good old code sent through SMS for 2FA would be a great feature!
Best regards,

Encrypted password reset emails
Similar as the feature provided by Facebook - it will be great if the password reset emails are sent encrypted to recovery email addresses (public key must be imported prior to that).
Extending this functionality - a user should be able to reset his/her password by sending a PGP signed email from external email address (again - public key must be importer prior to that).
This will help preventing account takeover if the recovery email is compromised.

A barebones plan
A 'basic' price plan between 'free' and 'plus', that is a lot cheaper than the $/€4 per month 'plus' plan. The price covers the running costs of a 'free' account, and should provide less of a shock to the system of cash-strapped people used to free (albeit not private) email.
The added features over the 'free' plan would be Protonmail Bridge, so emails & attachments can be downloaded, as the 500MB capacity fills very fast even with just standard usage, and the option to remove the signature "Sent with ProtonMail Secure Email" (default setting would be signature included). I would…

Local currencies with country-based pricing
It costs the average Russian nearly two day's wages to pay for ProtonMail Visionary. It costs the average German just over two hours.
Average wages vary drastically throughout the world, which is why large international companies like Spotify accomodate poorer nations. The same Spotify premium plan is equiv to USD 18.42 in Denmark compared to USD 4.50 in Argentina. This opens up their market to a global audience who would otherwise be unable to afford their service.
So what can we do to prevent someone in Switzerland paying for ProtonMail in Mexican Pesos?
Global issuer identification numbers: the first six…

Enable @pm.me for VPN subscribers
Currently @pm.me in the From: address is available only for ProtonMail subscribers. But some people, like me, mostly use the ProtonVPN (great service, btw), remaining the free mail users because their main e-mail address is somewhere else.
Could it be possible, however, to enable @pm.me address for sending for such people as a small gift for VPN subscription? It's not a big deal, all other free mail limitations will still apply.

Restore deleted username
I would like a previous username I deleted long time ago to be restored so I can use it again.
Right now the support tell me that a username that has been deleted cannot be used again, forever .....
That's not reasonable.
Please make it possible to restore previously deleted usernames.17 votes -
Option to buy only Protonmail Bridge
Protonmail Bridge is a great tool as it can make the possibly worst part of a free protonmail account, losing access to account and losing all emails when renewing the password. But I am not in a place to provide monthly fee, and honestly do not like monthly payment system. I also do not need many benefits of paying customers, but I would love access to Bridge. Is it possible you introduce an option to buy only Bridge by 1 time payment?

Recycle usernames that were barely used/ created and deleted quickly
Recycle usernames that were only used for a short period before being deleted.
On a lot of websites common usernames are used up by people who sign up to try the service out and just delete the account.
Please consider making these usernames available once again.
