Please let us inline AVIF images in the message body just like JPEG and PNG
Proton Mail lets users preview AVIF image attachments natively, but it doesn't let us inline the image into the message body like we can with JPEG and PNG. How come? Seems simple enough!
So look, AVIF is a modern image container standard universally supported by all modern browsers and operating systems and has been for years. It's not nearly as ubiquitous as JPEG or PNG, but it is significantly more efficient with its compression algorithm. An AVIF image is significantly smaller and better-looking than an equivalent JPEG, and even lossless AVIFs have better compression than PNG. It is an all-around…

Don’t append HTML signatures when replying to plain text emails.
I have an HTML signature that includes linked text with a call to action, like, “Click here to see my work.” When relying to plain text messages, the signature is included but without the link. There should be an option for a plain text signature, or “Do not use in plain text.”

Patronizing updates
Proton just released a cosmetic update today in Mail without fixing Unread filter persistence. Nobody needed a new CSS theme. Please fix old bugs.

Desktop Application & Chrome extension integration
Proton services and products do not integrate seamlessly and currently clash with each other. This is an issue across multiple services and not just a Proton VPN issue.
The issue specific to Proton VPN;
If both desktop application and browser extension is active at the same time, no connection is available in the browser (Vivaldi in this case, which offers built-in support for Proton VPN).Solution;
The browser extension should detect if the desktop application has an active VPN connection before attempting to create its own VPN connection. Similarly, the desktop application should detect if a browser extension is currently…3 votes -
Simplify 'Move to Folder' Button
When I want to move an email to a custom folder, I have to select the folder from the drop-down menu and press 'Apply'. Rather, simply pressing the name of the custom folder should move that email to that folder, thereby removing the need to press 'Apply'.

Addition of "Copy" feature to filter definitions
Currently, filter definitions only facilitate moving an email to another folder. An addition of the possibility to COPY an email to a folder (mutually exclusive of MOVE) would be most welcome. Quite often I wish to retain the original email in the inbox, but additionally auto-copy said email to a specific folder. Perhaps this feature exists already and I have missed it?

displaying emails on the smartphone application
Adapt the display of email content for reading on a smartphone.
It is clearly easier to read a "gmail" email than a "protonmail" one. On the latter you have to zoom in and scroll from left to right to read the content.

Add Spain to the free VPN plan
I think it'd be great if you guys could add Spain to the free VPN plan instead of Romania or Poland as a lot of people including myself consume a lot of Spanish content. This is just a request of course.

Bad Plex integration
Proton Pass isn't triggering properly for the Plex platform. Neither the user ID (email/username), nor password, nor TOTP 2FA codes autopopulate from my Proton Pass Plex login record.

Support Google Takeout for data imports (add to Easy Switch)
TL;DR: Easy Switch can auto-forward emails, then move your contacts and calendar. But what about:
Google Drive files, Google Photos, Google Password Manager, Google Finance, Gemini?
We should be able to move those data into Proton services Proton Drive, Proton Pass, Proton Wallet and Lumo quite easily with Google Takeout.
And what about autoforwarding from Outlook and Apple or sign in with Apple?
But we can’t.Dear Proton Community and Development Team,
We propose an enhancement to Proton’s “Easy Switch” technology to maximize user acquisition, engagement, and a more comprehensive way to move data to a more private service, while…

Provide public bug trackers for all projects.
You already provide a public feature request tracker, with UserVoice. For some repositories on GitHub, you leave issues enabled, which allows users to publicly report bugs (where they aren't restricted to function as discussions). Extend that capability to all repositories, so that users with diagnostic knowledge can report bugs that aren't necessarily able to submit PRs for (often due to outdated code).

Fix Standard Notes quirks
Standard Notes keeps accumulating more and more unaddressed quirks:
https://github.com/standardnotes/forum/issues
Please go ahead and resolve more of these expediently.
A separate Proton Notes app would be nice, but it's been a year and I don't want to hold my breath on a rewrite. Incremental enhancements to the existing Standard Notes system would be lovely.

Add an APAC Edge (Australia / Singapore) for Faster, More Private Lumo/Proton Services
I’m a Proton Unlimited user living in Melbourne (and I have friends in Indonesia and Malaysia). The current latency when opening mail folders, loading Drive files (Linux client please), or starting a chat is around 150 ms because the nearest edge is in Europe. That extra “thinking” time hurts productivity, especially on mobile networks.
Opening an email from the Proton Mail servers in the Android app takes nearly 15 seconds.
A local edge in Australia (or Singapore, which is a stable, centrally‑located hub for the whole region) would bring round‑trip times down to < 30 ms for metadata look‑ups and reduce upload/download latency…

Calendar: Better Z axis layering of concurrent events
When several events start at the same time, then Proton Calendar has a nasty quirk: It narrows the event title columns to just 2-3 characters wide, making it hard to read the event names.
Please use Z axis layering. It's okay to stagger the events or use other collapsing techniques. Just don't narrow the title width so much.

Export folder structure for folders within folders
When I go to export mail to .MBOX files using the ProtonMail Import-Export app, it would be great to have the option to export the entire folder structure, which the chosen folder is located in.
For example, the following folder structure:
1. Root Folder
2. Sub Folder
3. Full Folder (.MBOX)
Here, the root, sub and full folder would be exported in the original order as seen in Proton Mail.I like to meticulously sort my mail into multiple folders depending on my need, and I like to keep backups of my mail.
If you could implement this, it would…3 votes -
Make it possible to acess the "My account" page from the account icon in the right upper corner
Please add the option to acess account settings also from the account button.
I think it would be more intuitive than the current way: to go into the settings option, then click all settings to manage the account. I spend a lot of time until I find the option all the times I need to change something in my account settings.
Thank you!

Make the app logos semantically relevant
The current app logos follow the Google trend of keeping to a strict aesthetic at the cost of user experience. The google ones are confusing and ugly, and the proton ones are only slightly nicer to look at, but equally ambiguous as to what they represent. Unless they are labelled, i cant tell which app is which.
