Proton Maps
A web and mobile maps-like application based on the free OpenStreetMap data. The app allows to privately search for locations, save favorite locations, get directions, and possibly share the users' location for a limited time with other Proton users. Moreover, users can create custom maps with custom paths or GPS points.

a good private map app with usefull public transport data would be awesome. I mostly use apple maps, because all other alternatives that are more privacy respecitng are terrible at providing public transport data, at least in germany (and I don't even live in a small city). but maybe I want to switch to GOS or another privacy respecting mobile OS in the future, and I honestly haven't found a good alternative

Similarly to Standard Notes or Simple Login, it would be really nice if Proton joined forces with a privacy-friendly map service (for example, organic maps)

It would be nice to have something to replace Google Map, it would function like Google Map but your data would only be accessible to you not to Proton or any third party

We've reviewed all of Proton's features across email, file storage, password manager and calendar, and this is the last feature holding us back from migrating across from google. We use the feature of searching for photos via a map in google photos constantly.

Complimentary to this idea: https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/932839-proton-drive/suggestions/47687138-map-viewer-for-existing-geo-location-data-in-files
Having a google mymaps option with Proton would be great. The ability to create layers and add geometry (points, lines, and polygons) manually or from existing files on Proton Drive.
The ability to search for and save locations, save maps, share maps. I do like the idea of getting directions to then convert the route to a saved geometry.
I could see the 'photos' component of Proton Drive being built out to include a map component in a photo album. Or, attaching photos to points on a map.
A stand-alone maps application like google/apple maps would be amazing.

This is similar but more focused than the idea here: https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/945460-general-ideas/suggestions/45229390-proton-maps
This is more about a 'viewer' of files on Proton Drive to open a map UI of items within Drive that have a geolocation. Creating layers/adding geometry (like a google mymaps) is not part of this idea but could be part of roadmap.
1. View geotagged photos from an album in a map view; or to add/change location of photo (via pan/zoom from the photo view)
2. Open geo-files in a map view, that is kml, gps tracks, sheet with lat/long, shapefile, geojson... open standards.
Again, the focus of this idea is to view existing geolocation data from files in a map UI, not a map UI to create new geo data.

Good idea, but in the meantime there is Qwant Maps if you want ☺️
