I want to switch to Linux, since Windows 11 is becoming worse for privacy with every update. Sadly, the Proton Drive App is about the only App I regularly use that has no Linux version.

@get better - Linux *is* a first class platform. Which is why Proton apps should be completely on par with the other platforms.

To put my voice in here as well, I've been in entire teams or departments that are exclusively Linux. I see some comments about how linux isn't as popular, but for backend development, it's most all I've ever seen. I want to move to a proton stack for my current team but the lack of parity with Linux is a pretty painful sticking point.

Full Linux parity with Windblows and macOS should be an absolute priority. I use mainly Linux and very little Windows 10, and it's absolutely vital for Linux support to be brought fully up to speed.

Agreed. The Proton VPN app is terrible and slow on Linux. Back when PIA was trustworthy, their Linux app was great. If they could do it, why can't anyone else?

Total agree if we are paying with our hard worked money towards proton service why should we only have it only work on windows, maybe apple products too!, that would be nice to have it on linux!!!! proton drive for sure - not supported on linux!!

I pay for the family plan, and I personally use Linux on my own PC and laptop.

I am the "sysadmin" for my family - They all use a mix of Windows/iOS/Android.

I find it ironic that their personal devices are all supported better than my own!

There is no other full-service provider like Proton that I trust - I would even pay MORE if it came with better Linux integration with their applications.

Lack of proper Linux support keeps me from doing things like getting Proton family and purchasing a long-term subscription. I can't fully commit to Proton without further Linux support.

Strongly agree with the sentiments expressed here. With statements like "privacy by default" and "We believe in the power of open source", I'd expect full support for the only operating system that actually aligns with those values. Regardless of how large its userbase is.

All systems in my household run Linux. The reason we run Linux is I'm all into IT, security, and privacy so it makes it easy for me to choose Linux. Unfortunately Proton doesn't support Linux well, and I have a big family of 6. At this point we're not utilizing Proton across the family because it's too difficult for my family members to use. KDE / Gnome integration would be wonderful, if Proton would be able to release some API documentation for the Linux community and support it that would be amazing and believe that could be a driver of Proton's success. If not that, at least easy snap and flatpak support of Drive, VPN, mail and other programs directly contributed by Proton.

and for a reason...it's very UI-unfriendly system whereas Windows is

I do have use cases where I need to use macOS, iOS and Windows and do have the Proton apps on them. I have beta tested on them as well. But my daily driver and the majority of my other uses including most beta testing are done on Linux distros. Has been that way for many years. So while I wouldn't call it critical I would call having full Linux support is important and would be very much appreciated.

Again it feels like Linux users are treated as second class even here. I'm very disappointed by this and as an Unlimited user, I'm going to start looking for alternatives and move away from Proton in 2024 if this doesn't change. And the BS arguments I've heard from Proton around distributions and desktop environments...just do flatpack, that's all you need

I pay for the business plan and I only use Linux. It would be great to have support for Linux.

Have an official Flatpak with the GUI. I could be wrong, but having the VPN installed on the OS makes the browser extensions redundant. Wouldn't that free up developers to focus on other things?

I am a visionary subscriber but frankly I don't know how much longer I'm going to keep paying if they keep ignoring Linux.

I don't understand why Linux support is even a question for a supposedly privacy focused open-source company. Any time they make a desktop app they should plan for Windows, Linux, and MacOS support from the start. Just like planning for Android and iOS on mobile. We shouldn't have to beg for it.
