So happy to see that this is "under review"!!! Completely agree that this is not just an "alternative". There are no more "alternatives" when you have a secure password manager from PROTONMAIL, all else becomes ancient history. I would pay any subscription for this..... I hope it will have encrypted cloud backup of course (the only one we can actually trust), and if it also supports google 2FA in the same application so as to replace Authy and all other ridiculous "alternatives" that would be the best new application I have seen in a very long time. Secure password manager + Secure 2FA in one app with cloud backup that we can really trust: PLEASE MAKE THIS HAPPEN ASAP. It becomes more and more valuable and needed with every hour that passes especially now with cryptocurrencies everywhere. We cannot trust anyone else to do this for us, YOU are the only ones that tick all boxes of trustworthiness.

I think with a cloud based password manager (servers located in Switzerland) could you make a lot of money and get new customers. Just think how many passwords you need to handle today. Secure mail is useless if you can't remember your password or if you use a weak one which you can remember easily. At the moment i have more than 160 accounts with 160
Various passwords. I know there are other programs but i don't trust them. Would you hand over your password to your email, e-banking, or social media accounts, to companys located in China, Russia or the USA? Pleas the world needs a Secure program to Store passwords!

YES please: This is NOT "just another alternative" as some people suggested. This is about an alternative that you can actually TRUST. Just remember, we also had 100s of VPN services BEFORE ProtonVPN. But ProtonMail created the first and only VPN that you can trust even in extreme scenarios, making all pre-existing solutions obsolete. And this was after they had already done the same with the pre-existing encrypted email services (yes, we had "alternatives" there too). ProtonMail could use the same principles to create the most advanced and secure password manager you have ever dreamed of, one that allows you to sleep well at night. So please remember the ProtonMail & ProtonVPN stories before claiming that there are "existing alternatives". Also remember, this could bring additional revenue and donations to those who already run and maintain your most secure email and VPN services. These, together with an equal quality password manager are vital tools, whether you use cryptocurrencies or not (even more so if you do). So if you care about secure password managers remember to up-vote this one right now, this is your chance.

Downvote - too many applications already fill this space. Would rather them focus on mail features.

+1 for Masterpasswordapp migrating from KeePassX and find it fantastic.

There's already a ton of password managers out there. Some, like KeePassX or Masterpasswordapp are open source and do a good job. Large multi billion corporations can start multiple projects at once. Smaller companies like Protonmail should stay focused on few projects and execute those the best they can.

Down vote. Seems silly with so many good password managers out there and so many other things for them to focus on, like MAIL!

Downvote - too many good password managers out there. If ProtonMail does everything, it won't be good at anything.

1Password can be set up to be end to end encrypted, and give you full control of the file, even only ever allowing synchronization over the local network. The program/app can just act as a client to read the file

i think there are far to many other password managers available already. they are all encrypted, secure and reliable. also, the people the work at those services do it as their full time job which is much better than a company that makes a password manager on the side.

Proton should make a password manager, just not apart of ProtonMail itself. Perhaps, ProtonPass?

  • Ken commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

I don't get why the password manager should be tied to Protonmail specifically. There are so many options out there already that use end-to-end encryption, including the easy-to-use Encryptr (made by Spideroak) and KeepassXC, which is open source, let's you decide how to sync your database and has browser plugin integration via PassIfox and ChromeIPass. There's also Keepass and many others...

If I could vote more than 3 on this, I would.. This feature would be very useful for me.
