Needed features for IRAN
Hi from Iran
As an Iranian, I can confirm Stealth protocol is one of the rare protocols that is still working, many Iranians are willing to pay for the premium and Gift the premium version to the ones who can't afford it so that these features will be helpful:1)Crypto payment (it's critical!)
2)Promo codes especially for people in Iran
3)Add an option to buy the premium subscription and send it to another account as an giftThank you for standing with us ;)

Port Forwarding support for Linux
Port Forwarding is available on Windows (https://protonvpn.com/support/port-forwarding/) but there's no ETA about its availability in Linux.
Creating this specific feature request for Linux support. Feel free to create a copy for MacOS if that's your use case.

Please Support Split Tunneling on Linux
Split Tunneling is not currently officially supported for Linux. This feature is a must for me. The ProtonVPN tooling (both cli and gui) is not up to par with the MacOS and Windows counterparts. Please show us that you care about the Linux community.

Automatically enable vpn on public or compromised Wifi's
Offer a switch to make Proton VPN automatically connect to its services when it detects that you are connected to a Public or Compromised Wifi.
This can be useful if you don't want the VPN to turn on in your home wifi, but you still want to turn it on when connected to a public wifi.

Register-free access to VPN (critical for countries like Iran)
In countries like Iran it is very complicated to use proton vpn for very strange reason : it needs registration, and because proton VPN is blocked you CAN'T register. It is very critical thing for countries that block vpn very hard. Recently proton VPN released Stealth protocol. I think it's good idea to let users connect before registering, allow 50-100MB traffic, it is enough to register.
Once again, for people in countries with strong censorship it will be life saving. Please do it, Stealth is the only protocol that works in Iran.

Static Port forwarding
Please change the dynamic port forwarding to static port forwarding why:
In my BitTorrent client I have +200 torrents, dynamic port is boring because EVERY TIME I connect to a server I have to change the port in the BitTorrent client settings and the re-announcement is really long for all my torrents.
Please add to the ProtonVPN dashboard panel or in the application, the possibility to add static port like MullvadVPN do, example for the ProtonVPN Plus plans add the possibility to add 10 random forwarded ports.
Plus static forwarded port may work if you use the manual configuration: OpenVPN…

Be able to set up a private VPN with Proton
NordVPN has a great Meshnet feature
https://nordvpn.com/features/meshnet/
It would be great to have something similar.
Thing is Android devices allow for only 1 VPN connection at once (I think iOS is the same?) So I cannot currently use Proton VPN and Zerotier for example. Having a Protonvpn "Meshnet" would solve my needs.

use DNS with DoT (dns over tls) or DoH (dns over https)
This is critical because the most people use a DNS with their own ISP.
The DNS can leak their true location.
Your vpn solution is not complete without DNS encryption. And please don't forget Linux not just Windows, Apple or Google.

[Windows]Custom Encrypted DNS Over HTTPS/TLS.
Currently custom dns field only accepts ipv4 which is plain dns address.
Would be nice to allow the user to use encrypted dns option instead.27 votes -

Parental control filtering
I'm using Proton VPN at the router level. It would be very interesting being able to customize downloaded VPN protocols to block certain type of websites or even specific classic websites or apps, like YouTube, Facebook, BeReal, nudity, violence etc. Yes it can be done on the router but if the VPN was providing such DNS filtering it could be more efficient.

Transform Proton VPN to Proton SPN
I discover that future is SPN and not VPN and I think Proton need to go in this direction. You can discover what is SPN here : https://safing.io/blog/2020/01/22/how-the-spn-compares-to-vpns/
Please think about it.

Provide Netshield option for parental content filtering (e.g. username+f3)
It does not seem possible to use DNS based parental content filtering when connected to Proton VPN and it's DNS servers.
Add family filtering as an additional NetShield option? e.g. +f3?

Please re-build ProtonVPN Linux GUI app with Qt Framework
Hi! I like the ProtonVPN GUI app on Linux. It has so many good features.
But I think that the choice of GTK was a mistake. This framework is just one large piece of garbage - from both points of view - devs and user experience.
Most serious, quality and useful apps for Linux (about 90%) are uses Qt Framework.
GTK is unpopular. Every year more and more existing Linux software are rewritten with Qt Framework. It's stable and gives better look'n'feel experience.
GTK development is chaotic. The developers themselves don't know what they want. It looks like that GTK…

Shadowsocks proxy
Dear Proton team,
As an Iranian user of Proton VPN, I have trouble connecting to ProtonVPN even on stealth protocol. The only way to connect to VPN servers abroad is to use Shadowsocks proxy. Even with HTTP proxy and socks, the connection is not established. Recently, Argo VPN released an update that made it easy to connect to its servers using Shadowsocks proxy. You can see a picture of the program environment and its Google Play address below.
If possible, add Shadowsocks proxy to Proton VPN in its programs.
Thank you in advance.https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.filtershekanha.argovpn&pli=1

More comprehensive blocking abilities
Blocking of ads and trackers is an important part of maintaining user privacy and the ability to browse the internet without being constantly surveilled or provided with skewed content based on the decisions of algorithms.
NetShield is cool, but it would be great to have a more comprehensive blocking capability in Proton VPN similar to the likes of AdGuard. Currently, it is clunky to use AdGuardd or DuckDuckGo tracking protection together with VPN because most platforms allow only one VPN connection at a time and a "fake" VPN is necessary for the blocking services to work.
Important features for this…
