Peer-to-Peer Mesh Networking with NAT Traversal
Enables direct peer-to-peer VPN networking, like Tailscale or ZeroTier. This would allow devices on my Proton VPN account to see and connect to each other using private IPs, as if on the same LAN.
This kind of functionality would be very helpful for cloud gaming, remote development, and device syncing, without needing a third-party solution.
Specifically, I’m asking for:
Private IPs for each device on the VPN
Peer-to-peer connectivity with NAT traversal
Optional routing via Proton servers when needed

This would be a fantastic addition to Proton VPN. Having built-in peer-to-peer mesh networking would make it much easier to securely connect personal devices without relying on extra services. The ability to assign private IPs and enable NAT traversal could benefit many use cases, including remote access, cloud gaming, file synchronization, homelab management, and development environments. I especially like the idea of optional routing through Proton’s infrastructure when direct connections are not possible. Would prefer they integrate directly with tailscale like https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/932836-proton-vpn/suggestions/47601470-tailscale-exit-nodes instead. I know some people might take issue with needing an extra account but Tailscale already expertly handles STUN, and TURN and having proton servers as exit nodes would provide the mesh networking AND VPN access at the same time

Yes, this is badly needed. Our family has 2 houses in 2 different locations. We have a Disney+ subscription. Disney is terrible at making it so you can use the same account in 2 different locations (Even if you tell them you are traveling). Having a mesh net would be nice for this because it would pass through the mesh net and we would not have to buy 2 different Disney+ subscriptions. Streaming is a nightmare already nowadays but I hate paying for 2 subscriptions. Please make this a thing. Its unforunate that NordVPN has this and Proton does not.

Adding a big +1 to this as this should be achievable with wire guard. Another nice to have would be the Tailscale funnel type feature to option up services to the internet.

This seems redundant in my opinion. Why not just get a solution like Tailscale then?
Why deform Proton into something it isn't, when there are free experienced/advanced and highly specialized solutions already out there being maintaned?

would love this, as id then be able to cancel my mullvad sub, since its kinda annoying that i pay for 2 vpns but i only get to really use one (i have mullvad for tailscale and i have proton vpn)

As you said, this is already implemented entities such as Tailscale. The purpose behind protons vpn is different (evading geo restriction / censorship, privacy, anonymity, and security from malicious networks)
