DNS over HTTPS (DoH) support for Custom DNS
The current Custom DNS feature only allows IPv4 and IPv6 servers. It does not allow DoH even though it is more secure and more private. Please add support for it as it would greatly improve the experience for me and probably many other people who want to use custom filtering tools like NextDNS.

Linux client as a Flatpak
As Flathub is available in most distros it would make sense to publish the linux client as a Flatpak. And in addition with groving numbers in immutable distros, Flatpak is the prefferred method to install software.

Improve Stealth Mode - it is currently detected by Google
While using Stealth Mode, YouTube is now consistently asking me to sign in, to "prove that I am not a bot". This did not happen in the past. When disconnecting from Proton VPN, YouTube no longer is asking for a sign in. So obviously Google is able to detect the difference between a "Stealth" connection and a normal connection. This would disqualify this protocol as being "Stealth". Please improve Stealth Mode.

Offer split tunneling, even with the kill switch activated
Sometimes, we want all our traffic to go through the VPN (including things the system does in the background), except for one or two applications/hostnames/IPs. The current approach does not allow this to be done without completely disabling the kill switch.
It's technically possible to implement this, although I admit it may require some changes on the client-side of the VPN. But this is very important!

More Servers Outside of Jurisdictions with Age Verification Laws
With the implementation of age verification laws in the UK, Australia, and many states in the US, as a ProtonVPN user only using the free tier, I don’t want to connect to a server in a jurisdiction where I would have to show my ID. I propose, as a passive endeavor, that when you, the team behind ProtonVPN buys new servers, you avoid putting them in jurisdictions with age verification laws, to give a better chance of the fastest servers being in restrictive locations.

Allow Local DNS entries for Custom DNS
The ability to add a local IP address (10.0.0.0/8, 172.16.0.0/12, 192.168.0.0/16) for Custom DNS.
Like many others, I run Pi-hole at home for DNS blocking and local DNS records. With the current version 4.2.1 on Windows, if you add a local IP address to Custom DNS, DNS resolution will fail. I only need a VPN for a handful of programs, and I would like the rest of the computer to be as untouched as possible (no whole-device DNS changes & more).

Split Tunneling and Kill Switch
ProtonVPN Topic "How to use advanced kill switch" states that "On most platforms, kill switch (Advanced or Standard) is not compatible with split tunneling. If you have split tunneling turned on, you’ll need to turn it off to use a kill switch". I don't know what ProtonVPN means by most VPN's, but I have been able to activate Split Tunneling simultaneously with Kill Switch on numerous VPN's on my iMac, ie: PIA VPN, SurfsharkVPN, NordVPN, and ExpressVPN. Improve Discreet Calculator: Keep calculator mode as default after unlocking
As a ProtonVPN user in a region with strict censorship, I really appreciate the Discreet Icon feature, especially the calculator disguise option.
Currently, when I enter the secret formula (e.g. “12+21”) and press “=”, the app unlocks and shows the real ProtonVPN interface. However, the next time I open the app, it directly displays the VPN dashboard instead of the normal calculator.
My suggestion is to make the calculator mode persistent: after unlocking, the app should return to (and stay in) the ordinary calculator interface by default. Only when I deliberately enter the secret formula again and press “=” will…5 votes -

Split tunneling, select which app connects through which country
It would be great if Proton VPN split tunneling worked so that I can select which app's traffic is routed through whic country. For example, I'd like to select that Youtube goes through Moldova, Firefox through Netherlands, banking app through Germany etc. This could maybe be built into profiles as well so I can quickly set up even different split tunneling scenarios.

Prioritize physical servers instead of the virtual servers on countries with both
Right now, in Indonesia we have both physical servers and virtual servers. The thing is, when u click connect to Indonesia. It will randomly choose the virtual servers instead of the physical servers. In my opinion this is a flawed logic because not only do we have more added latency. There are also a few different sites that can tell that Proton's virtual IPs are not actually from Indonesia. Not only that, having ProtonVPN prioritize physical servers means that you will also most likely have a better speed and experience overall because we wont have to worry about the quality…

Add setting "allow LAN connected" for linux
Please add the setting to "allow LAN connections" for Linux while connected to vpn. Turning the vpn off to use the printer is no fun.

Allow profiles to select a city on macOS/iOS
This is already available with Windows and Android, please bring this existing feature to macOS and iOS.
It's especially useful for users in bilingual countries, where only being able to select a country at the profile/quick connect level often lands you on a server in a city that speaks a different language (and thus causes websites to default to the wrong language).
Selecting by city is a tedious manual step on these platforms, and is annoying to have to do by hand every time.

Netshield ad blocker - add possibility to whitelist domains/subdomains
I need to deactivate the ad-blocker in Netshield when I visit certain websites (eg. Google Analytics). Please add the possibility to whitelist some domains/subdomains so we don't have to disable this feature.

Port C/C++ code to Rust
Mullvad VPN moved from Wireguard-go to GotaTun for improved Wireguard performance and security. Please consider doing the same for Proton. After all, Mullvad has already done most of the work.
In a rapidly-changing security landscape (e.g. Claude Mythos), memory-safe code is more crucial than ever – especially for something as important and system-wide as a VPN.

Split-Tunneling
Someone please explain why ProtonVPN cannot have the Kill-Switch and Split-Tunneling both activated at the same time. There are lots of times I have to disconnect ProtonVPN to access some Internet sites. Not having a Kill-Switch and disconnecting the VPN defeats the purpose of a VPN; a Kill-Switch is a must. Other VPN allow both the Kill-Switch and Split-Tunneling to be activated at the same time; why can't ProtonVPN do the same. Hopefully a Proton Team Member will explain.

Make it possible to randomize for fastest connection within custom parameters
For instance, I want it to pick the fastest server anywhere in the eastern time zone using stealth with p2p optimization and onion routing. And maybe allow a corresponding custom server list at the top of the ‘countries’ list, or similar.
