Fastest Server Priority Settings — Primary & Fallback Location Configuration
Summary
Add a "Fastest Server Priority" setting across all Proton VPN apps (Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android) that lets users pin a Primary and a Fallback country to the Fastest Server connection mode — so speed-optimized connections still respect geographic preference.Proposed Behavior
When Fastest Server is active, Proton VPN resolves the connection in this order:A. Primary — Connect to the fastest available server in the user's preferred country (e.g., Philippines).

vB. Fallback — If the Primary country is fully unavailable due to maintenance or an outage, automatically switch to the Fallback country (e.g., Singapore) without…

Implement Rolling/Tiered Server Maintenance to Avoid Complete Country-Wide Outages
During routine maintenance cycles, I've noticed that all servers within a given country are occasionally taken offline simultaneously — occurring roughly every 2–3 months.
This forces users to reroute through servers in neighboring countries, which often serve different regional content, languages, and geo-restricted services. The result is a noticeably degraded browsing experience that undermines the core value of a VPN.
Proposed Solution:
Introduce a rolling or tiered maintenance schedule that keeps a minimum percentage of servers online at all times within each country cluster. For example:- Tier 1 (Active): A baseline set of servers remains fully operational during any maintenance…

ProtonVPN is not reliable enough to be "Always On"
On MacOS (and to a lesser degree iOS) there are times when ProtonVPN just stops working, often for many minutes. However, at least on the Mac (Sonoma 14.5, and don't make me use Liquid Glass), when ProtonVPN fails, it still keeps trying to turn itself back on. The result is that the Internet doesn't work at all. This is frustrating on deadline. There have been times when the only way for me to get the Internet back is by uninstalling ProtonVPN and rebooting. Obviously nobody wants that. It's especially frustrating in a time crunch.
Give me a "Emergency Off" button…

Kill-Switch with Split-Tunneling for Mac
Apparently ProtonVPN has implemented this feature in Windows:
Proton removes restrictions on simultaneous feature usage on Windows
- Users can now use Split Tunneling, Kill Switch, and NetShield altogether
- Split tunneling is currently in beta for Mac and Linux usersIf you’ve been using Proton VPN on Windows, you’ve likely encountered a frustrating "pick two" scenario. For a long time, the app forced users to make a compromise: if you wanted to use split tunneling to route specific apps outside the VPN, you often had to disable other critical security features.
According to an X post by the company,…

Add ProtonVPN to the macOS App Store
I'd like the ProtonVPN app to be available on the macOS App Store. The app store enforces the App Sandbox and handles autoupdates for all my apps, so it's very convenient for me. ProtonVPN is already available on iOS so the macOS version shouldn't be too difficult.

Improve region selection for high-population nations
The current region selection system for Proton VPN really only works well for low- and mid-population nations, and is highly problematic for many regions of high-population nations. As an example, I can choose the UK, and then select from a list of the six cities in which you provide local presence. This is great. If I want to pop out in London, as opposed to Cardiff, I can. However, in California, U.S., this doesn’t work. Your system cannot iterate down further than one step (nation > city), where there are many places where you might want to go two steps (nation >…

Extend NetShield content blocking options
I wish NetShield had more fine-tuned content blocking options beyond malware and ads/trackers. Mullvad can also block the following:
- Gambling
- Adult content
- Social mediaPlease add these options to NetShield so I don't have to trust a third party custom DNS (and risk being fingerprinted for it). Proton might treat this as low priority, but it's important to me. This and DAITA are some of Mullvad's distinctive features, so I'd appreciate if Proton had them too.

Port C/C++ code to Rust
Mullvad VPN moved from Wireguard-go to GotaTun for improved Wireguard performance and security. Please consider doing the same for Proton. After all, Mullvad has already done most of the work.
In a rapidly-changing security landscape (e.g. Claude Mythos), memory-safe code is more crucial than ever – especially for something as important and system-wide as a VPN.

Add "Allow LAN connections" and "Access devices by name" options in Profiles
I often use LAN to access other devices in my network, and I'd like the ability to quickly switch profiles when I want to do that.

could we perhaps get a client without systemd on linux?
Pretty please? I just want to connect from my systemd-less distros and I will need to just switch to another VPN if I am unable to do that for well, obvious reasons.

Split-Tunneling
Someone please explain why ProtonVPN cannot have the Kill-Switch and Split-Tunneling both activated at the same time. There are lots of times I have to disconnect ProtonVPN to access some Internet sites. Not having a Kill-Switch and disconnecting the VPN defeats the purpose of a VPN; a Kill-Switch is a must. Other VPN allow both the Kill-Switch and Split-Tunneling to be activated at the same time; why can't ProtonVPN do the same. Hopefully a Proton Team Member will explain.

show the connected server on the tray if it is one of the pinned ones.
If the VPN is connected to a pinned tray connection, reflect it on the tray dropdown window with a mark next to the connected server (Linux client).

DNS over HTTPS (DoH) support for Custom DNS
The current Custom DNS feature only allows IPv4 and IPv6 servers. It does not allow DoH even though it is more secure and more private. Please add support for it as it would greatly improve the experience for me and probably many other people who want to use custom filtering tools like NextDNS.

Log out button in Proton VPN Desktop app
As a user I would like to have a button directly in the proton vpn desktop app, preferably in the "Account" tab in the settings, so that I can easily log out myself in proton vpn (which exists already in the iOS and iPadOS apps to my surprise, but not on the macOS client). Instead now, you need to do that via the shortcut or click on the option on the menu bar under "Proton VPN -> Log out (Shift + Command + W)".

More circuvmention
Hi
Can you please add:
1. Support for stealth for Linux
2. Amnesia WG or V2RayBecause in censored networks your connection usually blocked.
Also, please, move all your VPN to 443! Because it is extremely trivial to block ports other than 53, 853, 443!

Protecting Your Digital Identity
(1) Stop INTENTIONALLY BROADCASTING your customers digital identity to SCREENGRABBERS on the Proton VPN splashscreen under the false gaslighting heading "Protecting Your Digital Identity", which you do every single time we change our IP addresses! (2) And find the GOVERNMENT MOLE(s) in Proton who got this EXTREME and OBVIOUS privacy violation designed and implemented in the first place!
Edit: How has fixing this critical vulnerability not gotten anymore votes by now? If someone doesn't understand what vulnerability I'm talking about, then feel free to ask me. I'll be happy to explain it further.
