Advanced Kill Switch for Mac OS
MacOS desperately needs an advanced, truly-permanent kill-switch feature. It's way too easy to miss that manual server switching causes leaks.

AmneziaWG / Xray-core for bypassing DPI and allowing proper access and performance
Many countries block WireGuard completely and even cause issues and blocking with OpenVPN (which is already quite bad performance wise)
It would be great to implement AmneziaWG or/and Xray-code to allow bypassing DPI and properly connecting to VPNs, which would help with many things, especially for those who benefit greatly from VPNs in developing/poor countries or countries that have strong censorship, while maintaining performance, bandwidth and ease of use
I believe this is quite important, some countries have issues connecting to ProtonVPN at all due to the blocks these countries enforce

Less blocked IPs
I understand that websites, and internet traffic companies (like Cloudflare) attempt to discover IP addresses from VPN, and block that traffic.
I typically have my VPN on all the time, and this presents a problem, as more and more often, I'm blocked from certain websites due to using a VPN. And that list of sites I'm blocked from is growing as they continue to discover which IPs belong to VPN providers.
I get that this is a game of wack-a-mole, but if the VPN usage becomes prohibitive to use some everyday sites and services, it just makes me turn off…1 vote -
Add PIN lock to VPN app
the iOS VPN app can be used to sign in to my account with a QR code. This feature is protected by iPhone Passcode (which is good), but it is not possible to lock down the VPN app itself. This means that anyone who knows the iPhone Passcode can log in to my Proton account and gain access to my emails, my drive, and so on. That is clearly not good. Please add the same option to lock the VPN app that other apps (Mail, Pass, etc.) already have.

Back up and restore for ProtonVPN profiles on Android
If a user has quite a few profiles defined and gets a new device, or has another device, the ability to back up and restore ProtonVPN profiles on Android is essential. Right now there is no way to save/restore them.

Proton VPN being blocked. Blacklisting.
Many websites are starting to block Proton's VPN. It's getting harder to use. Sometimes, I have to disable the VPN just to do transactions. It's almost as if well-known domains are blacklisting certain Proton domains or IP addresses. If I use Norton VPN or log in directly through my ISP, there are no issues. The weird thing is that the older version of Proton VPN was more stable.

Hide VPN usage far too complicated and uneffective
I wanna be unblocked every time I'm using my VPN, but it seems to me that even if I follow the dedicated guide, it's almost impossible to hide my VPN, so I'm unable to see what I want where I could if they cannot see my Proton VPN.
I wish it were a service too effective and far simpler than it is ATM.3 votes -

Allow custom MTU setting on iOS app. Most 5g internet connection MTUs are lower than the “standard” 1500.

Hello,
I'm a Proton VPN user on both Linux and Windows, and I've noticed that, unlike the Windows app, the Proton VPN app for Linux doesn't show how long the current VPN connection has been active.
This is a feature that I find very useful on Windows, especially for checking how long the VPN connection has remained active. I think it would be great to have this information available in the Linux app as well.

Websites that are known to track you
I am trying to switch over to Lumo AI but it’s very hard to stay away from ChatGPT or Claude because they are so well made, so if I could have an option that just doesn’t resolve those websites and doesn’t let me visit them when connected through Proton VPN, that would be awesome.
But it has to be explicit that it is blocking them and that it’s your choice; otherwise people will get mad.2 votes -
I'd like to have the option to set a kill switch for specific applications.
I've used Proton VPN for a while now and there is only two things I miss compared to my previous VPN:
- I'd like to have the option to set a kill-switch for specific applications.
- A VPN Server on the Isle of Man, because it is a very low censorship territory, that is still technically part of the EU.

Support Nix & NixOS by publishing up to date CLI/Headless binaries in a freely available manner
The nixpkgs repository holds the largest amount of packages of any package repository out there. The Nix community is thriving and growing, and even the full government of of the Netherlands seem to be changing from Windows to NixOS now.
Supporting nixpkgs, which by extension, in itself, would amount to a very concrete support for the Nix ecosystem as a whole, this would make a huge difference.

Add rpm-ostree to extend support to Fedora-based immutable distributions
UBlueOS as well as the increasingly popular gaming-focused Bazzite flavor hereof are build around the concept of an immutable kernel. This means nothing can write to kernel-space, and even with superuser privileges, you cannot do this. Updates are done by retrieving full & tested images, you can always roll back to the previous image, and the system doesn't really complain if it runs out of storage. I believe that some of these features are in line with Protons mission for helping users achieve security and privacy. Make python dependencies exsist in venv
Lock down the environment and avoid dependency issues by using venv for python dependencies, or let the users install these using UV add to a contained python project. using system dependencies for python is a rough way to go it seems.

Always release a tarball for the most basic install (CLI/headless)
Releasing a basic tarball makes it much easier to incorporate ProtonVPN in distributions like NixOS and others.
I know that NixOS is not supported, but this could be released under a 'not-the-recommended-method' banner, and it would be hugely advantageous for people who are used to taking on the responsibility of integrating packages into a specific system setup.3 votes -
CLI should be standalone
CLI should be installable as a standalone feature with all features included.
Recently the installation instructions mashed the CLI and the GUI into one. This causes problems as the installation is now much more dependent on the choice of KDE, GNOME etc.
Really on linux, it makes the most sense to me, to build a solid CLI tool first, and then build a nice GUI for the functions that were allready build in the CLI tool. This also ensures that all of the users can apply their own scripts around the behavior of ProtonVPN, solving some of the feature-requests before…

Easier VPN settings for gaming and scripting workflows
I use Proton VPN while working with Roblox and Lua/Luau scripting, and I sometimes need to switch between gaming, scripting tools, and documentation during the same session.
It would be useful to have a simpler way to save different VPN preferences for specific workflows. For example, I often use Roblox scripting resources such as Fluxus Team https://officialfluxusteam.com/ alongside my other development and browsing tools.
A small profile system for things like gaming, development, and general browsing would make switching between these setups much easier without changing several settings each time.

Improved omarchy support
The cli on omarchy is fine except it requires gnome keyring which requires you to put the password in when booting omarchy. And the gui app is ok also. But an officially supported omarchy gui with a menubar plugin would be great. This year is the year of linux and omarchy adoption is on!
