  1. Smart VPN automation for websites

I would like proton vpn to turn on automatically when going to banking or payment websites and apps.
I would also like Proton VPN to give an option where the VPN turns off for specific apps suggested by the user.

  2. Automatically restart connection

It seems that if I leave my VPN running for a long period of time (longer than a day), my connection stops working. A disconnect and reconnect fixes the issue. It would be nice if there was an option to automatically disconnect and reconnect the VPN on a daily basis.

  3. fix the systask icon options for fastest server option/random server option.

I AM LOSING MY MIND!!! when i leave the 'fastest server' and randomize 100+ times or more over a durration of more then 24 hours, so long as i do not reboot my pc, if i choose the option 'fastest' it will revert me to the original sever i was on. Despite the fact that #1~ it is not. i can find servers with 25% loaded capacity when it gives me 45% and it doesn't seem to even try to find what the fastest is at the time of. i have to open the application and so a search for…

  4. Stop changing RPM repository signing key all the time

Almost everytime I run "dnf update" on my system, the ProtonVPN repository signing keys have changed.

I have to validate them again and again, without knowing if the key I'm allowing is really the good one (I even don't know where to look for the actual one).

I think I'm not the only one trusting the new signing key blindly every because I'm annoyed, which is terrible from a security standpoint.

Please keep your signing keys longer, as every sane repository does.

  6. Forward More Than One port

Currently with dynamic forwarding a single port can be forwarded for P2P connections. Sometimes more than a single port is necessary (an obfuscated port). It would be helpful if we had the ability to forward multiple ports within the GUI rather than searching for third-party solutions.

  9. Add support of the <auth-user-pass></auth-user-pass> tags for OpenVPN protocol

Right now Proton supports only separate input of username and password. Some routers (Keenetic City) does not allow entering username and pasword separately. However the OpenVPN supports having username and password in a configuration file according to the - https://github.com/OpenVPN/openvpn/blob/v2.6.10/Changes.rst
It would be great if you could support inline auth.

  13. Make Proton VPN's Windows UI More Consistent with Mobile Apps

I wanted to share some thoughts on the UI for Windows, it doesn’t really match the look and feel of the Android or iOS versions (though I haven’t used the iOS app in a while, so I’m not sure how it looks now). Compared to the Android app, the Windows version feels less polished.

The font looks outdated, and the unrounded corners on things like the flags and the window itself clash with the design of the app, since there are rounded corners alongside them. Also, it should show the cities of the server location, and have better custom profile…

  14. Split-Tunneling: two options inclusion or exclusion

Split-tunneling weither on desktop or mobile is currently only designed to be an allowlisting/inclusion in the VPN, but there's enough use cases where the user would like the vice-versa, blocklisting/exclusion from VPN (e.g. maintaining vpn usage on all connections but this one app/website that blocks proton IPs or that out of security requires a definitive IP)

  15. Script managing WireGuard ProtonVPN for Linux using CLI only

I've put together a POSIX shell script allowing you to use ProtonVPN in Linux using only the native wireguard and Linux core utils having the script managing all aspects of the network such as routing and which DNS server to use when the VPN is up or not.

It works very well for me so I brushed it up with more thorough error handling, documentation and examples in case more people have an interest in it.

Basically it allows you to generate any number of protonvpn-wg-configurations you like and put them in your /etc/wireguard folder, the script selects up one…

  16. create a toggle in UI to show bandwidth by bits instead of Bytes

Recent paid customer. It's weird to measure bandwidth in Bytes. Create a little toggle button in Settings -> General for Bytes vs bits. Volume would stay as-is.

Allow 2FA for Mail but not VPN. VPN doesn't need a secure login and user may not always have yubikey handy.
