allow port forwarding on a router-based wireguard vpn
Please consider allowing port forwarding on a router-based wireguard vpn. I am unable to find any documentation on whether this is currently possible or not. I have an openwrt router using a wireguard vpn. I am happy with it, but it would be better if I could forward a port into my home network to allow plex access from outside the house.

Smart Double Kill Switch (No, this is not Secure Core)
NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH SECURE CORE
The ability to have two servers, one being the “active” one and another one being a “passive” one, like for aircraft radio, allows for quick switching if one of the servers is not avaliable and also if the connection drops on one, this could be added to Kill Switch to jump immediately onto the 2nd server without any connection interruptions. So like if a server fails you jump immediately onto a 2nd without any drop in connection. Like VPN Accelerator but one server just not sending anything through

Support Usage across multiple local users on Mac
Currently some Proton apps are unusable on a Mac with multiple local users. For instance if you have Mac User A and Mac User B both with Proton accounts (PA and PB)
Mac User A installs Proton VPN and Proton Drive and logs into each with PA
Mac User B uses "Switch Users" to log into their local Mac account and tries to use Proton Apps
…*Proton VPN: The app will open and Mac User B logs in with their Proton B account but the VPN will never establish a connection. It will say "connecting" but eventually time out with4 votes -
Allow Kill Switch to block Internet when VPN failed to connect on startup.
The kill switch allows you to connect to the internet if Proton VPN failed to connect (during start-up) or if you manually disconnected.
It would be more secure if it only allowed connections through a VPN.
I personally connected to multiple public hotspots without noticing that my VPN was actually off.

Upgraded VPN for Mail Plus Subscribers
I have been a Proton Mail Plus subscriber since 2021. As such I'm entitled to use the free version of Proton VPN. I just learned, however, non-mail subscribers can download and set up the same exact free VPN. To be clear, it appears they pay nothing for this. Seems unfair to paid mail subscribers. I would suggest providing an upgraded VPN with more features for Mail Plus subscribers; something short of VPN Plus. I am surprised that it isn't possible to exclude networks like my mobile provider and my home wifi in order to save battery power.

Partner with another VPN for fully-independent exit hop.
Partner with another credible VPN to create a fully-independent exit hop. This keeps users activity private even from Proton.
Obscura VPN (https://obscura.net/#faq-technical) has already partnered with Mullvad to offer the same thing. If privacy is the goal then this is a no brainer.

Ways to organize the profile list in the Windows client
When we have multiple profiles, it’s difficult to stay organized with the current interface. It would be very helpful to be able to group and reorder the profile (and group) list freely.

fully configurable through an MDM
I plan to use an MDM (42Gears) instead of traditional parental controls for my kids' devices (Android + Linux).
Could you design a version of the always-on VPN that blocks all connections without the VPN, and most importantly, is fully configurable through an MDM like 42Gears ?

Prevent On-Screen IP Leaks
A simple toggle to hide the IP address in the app UI is critical for users who share their screens.
As a streamer, opening the Proton VPN app on a live broadcast accidentally exposes my IP address, creating a security risk. The same risk applies to anyone giving a live presentation. The toggle in the settings could solve this by replacing the IP with asterisks.

Support More flexible VPN lite package
I'm hoping for a Proton VPN Lite plans with a data limit of 3-5TB per month (priced between $4.99-$5.99 per month). The very unstable speeds and high latency at $9.99 per month are really daunting, and compared to other competing VPN products, I think it have no pricing advantage. I hope your teams'll consider it!

Allow Local DNS entries for Custom DNS
The ability to add a local IP address (10.0.0.0/8, 172.16.0.0/12, 192.168.0.0/16) for Custom DNS.
Like many others, I run Pi-hole at home for DNS blocking and local DNS records. With the current version 4.2.1 on Windows, if you add a local IP address to Custom DNS, DNS resolution will fail. I only need a VPN for a handful of programs, and I would like the rest of the computer to be as untouched as possible (no whole-device DNS changes & more).

Proton as an Internet Service Provider
Obviously this is a pie-in-the-sky idea, but with all of the features provided by Proton, it seems that creating an ISP seems like a reasonable (if not far off) step. Of course access would vary by country as Proton would build ISP infrastructure, and I'm not sure if this has any particular benefits vs using a VPN, but just an idea.

Enable multiple countries for one profile
Make is possible to choose a pool of countries for a profile with the app choosing the fastest server or randomly choosing one of the countries / servers in the pool.
I usually use 5 different countries for my everyday cell phone usage. I like to switch them from time to time. It would be nice to have them in one profile, so that country changes automatically when reconnecting.

Notification if not connected
User sets the time to get notified if they're disconnected for longer than x period.
For users on iOS/android who may temporarily switch off the VPN and forget to toggle it back on, it would be great to have a notification based on a users preference (if not connected for x minutes, notify the user to say they're not connected)

Add 'include mode' to the browser extension's Split Tunneling feature
The desktop app has exclude and include modes for split tunneling, allowing you to use it as a blacklist or whitelist respectively.
The browser extension only has the exclude mode.Given recent changes to the internet, selectively VPNing certain websites would be extremely helpful.

Disassociation of Identity From Activity ('Trustless' Connection)
Taking a page from Apple's iCloud Private Relay and TOR's onion network, I wish to suggest that Proton partner with another trustworthy provider (such as Mullvad or IVPN) to use their servers as 'exit nodes' in an implementation that would separate activity from identity. This would, of course, be for the benefit of reducing demanded trust in Proton (or their partner), and the 'no logs' promise, ensuring greater privacy by design and not just by policy and practice.
This isn't Secure Core.
I figure it's important to clarify how this differs from Secure Core, which is already a 'multi-hop' connection.…

Nevada
Please add servers back to Las Vegas. It was a huge reason why I chose proton back in 2021. Im from Nevada but work out of the state which causes all sorts of issues when browsing or trying to log into financial institutions.
