Bind the Kill Switch setting to specific programs. For instance: Application "X" will terminate if VPN connection drops, even when switching servers.

    Yeah, this should be a no brainer. NordVPN has it, it's essential if you're using P2P. I might have to see if I an get a refund, I didn't realize Proton wouldn't have such a basic feature.
