Volla phone is another alternative for a potential partnership or merger.

They are based in germany, and they offer degoogled phones out of the box with either their own degoogled androidOS called Volla OS, Ubuntu Touch OS, or even dualboot with both options included.

It seems that their software is open source. At least they have a github page, which seems to contain software for the phones. Their flagship phone even seems competitive in the market, even though they are a very young company.

Now that Samsung have locked their bootloader and Google are restricting access to information on the pixel phone for developers of alternative roms, it seems that alternative hardware products are needed even more.

I think we can take it for granted that Android is hopelessly compromised. We need a phone where the rights of the person who owns the phone take priority over corporations.

How about a new product, ProtonPhone, providing secure, anonymous voice phone and SMS?

My impression is that phones are the biggest security hole in the communication ecosystem. It would be great to plug it.

No matter how much I do to make my Samsung feel safer, it never lets me delete the Google Playstore or other apps.

Also, maybe a Proton Television? I think it's reasonable to assume that certain channels may be blocked on Televisions in the future. If you make them super fancy like Samsung, it would be easier to get my husband to switch over.

I am a vision protonmail user with an obvious care for secure communication for my very activist media company. I would be very interested in being part of the planning group for this line as well as possibly feature a prototype in our upcoming feature film which has a sort of spy vs spy element and a Q (as in James Bond) who provides secure devices among other gadgets.. it wouldn't necessarily have to yet function fully for it to seem to function in the film. It could be a theoretical prototype. Be fun to have a star trek style flip phone model in addition to a regular cellphone design. Our company is cellphone based as well
