Text message
Proton messaging app
I would like to see a proton messaging app which sends and receives end-to-end encrypted messages. Messages should be able to be received on Apple messages or other text messaging platforms. The option would be given to have it appear locked on the recipients end in Apple messages and you can open it with a code. You would also be able to receive messages from any messaging app.
I am aware that there are messaging apps out there but they are a closed system as far as I’m aware.

I don't need a messaging app to compete with Signal. I want one to compete with Google Messages. The main problem with FOSS messaging apps is attaching files. I want to be able to take a FOSS messaging app and add attachments using Proton Drive similar to how Google Messages uses Google Drive, but maybe with more security features like expiring links and limited number of downloads.

To have the ability to tie seamlessly into Proton Drive/email/calendar would be super useful.

I would like to see a texting sms app from Proton that would integrate with email and Drive like Google Messages does. Knowing that Proton is protected and private would go a long way and I would have no problem paying for that. But, it has to be able to text someone that is not using the app...that is the problem with Signal...too difficult to text to someone outside the Signal app.

SMS functionality to replace Google Messages
An option to send encrypted texts over the internet, similar to Signal
Anonymity options, potentially not requiring a phone number (like Session or Threema)
Server location in Switzerland.

I would also like to add voice, file transfer and video communications to the texting app (like WhatsApp).
