ProtonOS + Kernel + Science Dev App Bundle
Hi everyone.
This is going to be a bit long, I'll try to summarize:
The first step of a scientist should be to have an adequate base or environment to develop his task and projects, so I think that Proton should collaborate with and develop a kernel and operating system according to the capabilities of this great app environment and the moment history that we live as a society.
Developing a kernel and OS with Proton principles would be laying the first pillar on which to base our future, like plowing the land on which to plant crops. This is not necessary, nor desirable, for Proton to do alone, but based on its principles it can make a preliminary study of appropriate distributions such as Illumos. We must banish that past where only large corporations created complete (and increasingly imperfect) environments to begin to communicate and cooperate with each other.
The ordered central axes of my proposal are:
Analysis of the kernel and OS developed so far, as well as who created and maintains it.
Contact with the person or people chosen to present this project of a scientific, collaborative nature and governed by criteria of stability, optimization of resources and security.
Creation of the OS with integration of all Proton functionalities and services with a pre-installed work environment.
Development of distribution capabilities incorporating other app/companies willing to collaborate in line with our vision.
Right now I think that for work teams, especially scientific ones, an application such as an accessible and private database like Obsidian and organizers like Notion or ClickUp would be necessary. There is no need to create anything new, the Internet is already saturated with clones and repeated apps. We will be one planet when we are able to cooperate and collaborate around values, ideas, intelligence... and not for money, which does not even have a real use value, or competitiveness and envy.
I would have added points such as smartphone OS or specific hardware development but I think it is excellent for today.
Thank you for evaluating my proposal.
