This should be the case for the app too. in android it is not possible at the moment

Yes! Directly saving email attachments to Drive. Manually just browse&save, and with rules automatic saving: when email from x, then automatically save attachments in Drive folder y.
And sending file (links) by browsing in Mail to file in Drive. Select file, and proton creates link in email.
