I tried to backup my Proton account a few weeks ago in case of emergencies, but it turns out you have to download a tool and then activate it using the console, critically using your password which you get no feedback from... if it's long or complex, this is actually remarkably difficult, so I ended up doing about 4 rounds of logging back in, changing my password to something I can type with my eyes closed, 2FA, then attempting to use the tool, and each time it crashed on me. I gave up after multiple attempts at that, and then of course had to go back in and change my password yet again. Does Thunderbird still work? Can we still use that to export stuff? It was enough of a nightmare when Gmail went evil on me and actively tried to prevent me getting at my data for nearly half a year. I'm glad the import tool exists now, that would have been a lifesaver, but surely it should be relatively straightforward to export as well?
