I would like to use Proton Mail, the web App, as IMAP client (not server) to transfer my Gmail content to Proton. I tried the Apple bridge to download all emails into my local App and then reuploaded into Proton Mail by reassigning the folder, but the transfer took forever and the success was patchy. I can’t use the direct method currently available because I am using my own DNS in both accounts which blocks it as it is described in the documentation. IMAP would be great, I could switch off the forwarding in Gmail and don’t have to start the transfer fresh. IMAP would compare the content of both inboxes and only transfer the missing ones. I was successful in transferring 15 GB, but the lot doesn’t seem to contain all of my old emails. Alternatively, I could download my entire Gmail inbox, but I don’t think the function exists to upload the archive file into Proton?! Also since I was partly successful, I would get a lot of duplicates. It is also possible that my problem of finding old emails originates from the search function in Proton. Too often I go back into my old Gmail account and find an email there. If that is the root cause then this suggestion goes to a different category, but of course still remains open. :)
