Forwarding email from Proton Mail
It would be great if we had the option to forward email to other email providers. services.
Thanks to your feedback, you can now automatically forward emails sent to your Proton Mail account to any email address: https://proton.me/support/email-forwarding
Email forwarding is available for everyone with a paid Proton Mail plan.

Yes, autoforwarding in filters should imo be implemented. Maybe with an option to force TLS or sth. like that.

Fastmail has an option to deliver emails to another email/s, thus it is not a forward but rather a redirection at the server level. Such a feature should be possible, since changing the delivery address should be an event before encryption (ie before reaching the recipient mailbox).
A similar feature exists on Gmail: https://support.google.com/a/answer/2685650 -

Although I think Protonmail is a powerfull service, I am currently moving to another one.
The only way I am able to properly transfer all incoming email to my new inbox in real time is to set up a VPS with a graphical user interface, install Protnmail Bridge, thunderbird and set the latter to automatically copy PM emails to my new inbox.
Setting up a VPS for email transfer is not cost effective and is very insecure. I wish Protonmail's Team had an easy built in solution to that.

Why can I forward manually but not automatically? Is one way more secure than the other? Really?

When an email comes in to a ProtonMail email, it can be forwarded to at least two other ProtonMail accounts. Would be nice for visionary/multi user accounts since we have a single email address that needs to be received by several users.

Much needed. Both for integration with Zapier and IFTTT, but ALSO so we can forward important emails with "Declined" or "Payment failed" or heck even "COVID-19 vaccines available now" in the subject to our phone via SMS.. sounds funny but we truly miss this capability migrating here from gmail

I am surprised that sieve cannot forward an incoming email to an external address @ another server.

it is crazy for a paid account to not be able to forward to another email address.
the "you can configure bridge and do it in your mailprogram"-solution is unreliable, because i need a machine constantly fetching and forwarding mails.
actually, i am a bit shocked. shouldn't this be a pretty basic feature?

Exactly the same use-case as Mathieu, but I did the switch and hopefully, I set up a catch-all and now I’m noticing that I’m getting the mail of my wife... and I there is no way to set up a rule at the moment to forward automatically and delete.
The best way is to implement redirection as explained by Mathieu. Thanks is advance!

As said in https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/284483-feedback/suggestions/32738530-auto-forward

Exple usecase :
I registered myname.net at myRegistrar
I use it for all my family members : me, 3 childs, sister, mom and dad.
Actually, my DNS configuration, have MX records handled by myRegistrar mail servers and I have set those forwarding addresses :
me@myname.net forwards to me@gmail.com
child1@myname.net forwards to child1@gmail.com (idem for child2 and child 3, you get the idea)
sister@myname.net forwards to sister@otherprovider.com (idem for mom and dad)Now I want to say "goodbye Google, hello ProtonMail" for me and my childs but not for my sister and parents. Their mails, their choice.
With a Visionary account if I set the MX records to ProtonMail servers I can have my childs and my addresses managed by ProtonMail but I can't keep the forward for my sister and parents towards thier email providers.
I won't say to my family "you can no longer use our family domain name, cause I decided to quit Google"
So I can't use ProtonMail for now, too bad :/Please, it seems this is a long time request, put it on your roadmap, you're loosing customers !

I also need it for stupid things like parcel tracking services. It's really annoying to manually forward the shipping information to third party apps

I'd like to be able to create a filter that automatically forwards the received e-mails that respect pre-determined criteria, just as I can create filters that flag incoming e-mails.
