Forwarding email from Proton Mail
It would be great if we had the option to forward email to other email providers. services.
Thanks to your feedback, you can now automatically forward emails sent to your Proton Mail account to any email address: https://proton.me/support/email-forwarding
Email forwarding is available for everyone with a paid Proton Mail plan.

I was pretty surprised when I realized that this feature is not implemented. It's pretty basic to have option to forward or redirect emails based on the conditions.

I'm just trying to automate some IFTTT. This would help.

I personally know many people who would love to use Proton but cannot switch due to this very basic missing functionality. There is NO EXCUSE for this to still be missing.

It's just a basic requirement for work email. Please add. Or, I'll get back to you later. Maybe...

this would be great for me as an auto feature. If a certain email comes from a certain address I want to forward it and chose from which of my addresses I am forwarding it.

Nuno commented
Also nice if you can choose from which of ones own address the forward is exectued!

This seem dangerous from a security perspective because it could lead to leaking mail outside of the encrypted Proton Mail eco system.

Yes. I have various shared accounts (banking, credit cards etc.) with my spouse for which email notifications really should go to both of us, but the business/institution only allows one email to be listed. Currently, I have to manually forward all of these to her, which is a nuisance and undermines the utility of the service.
I understand that the encryption of my PM Inbox on the server creates obstacles to server-side auto-forwarding. And based on that, I assume that the existing types of filters (e.g., move to folder, apply a label, etc.) are all done on the client side (mobile app or web browser), which has access to the unencrypted message. Why couldn't the forwarding also be done client-side?

I would indeed love to see this feature, I believe there are options to keep the encryption/security/privacy AND the option to forward it?

At least allow encrypted forwarding between Proton mail accounts. Maybe allow a trusted recipients list which may only be edited after an appropriate MFA response.

I would love this for a different reason. I have a Visionary account and was going to add a small division (four users) of a small company I work at.
It turns out that the division often sends out e-mails larger than 25 megabytes. The largest e-mail I've seen here was 100 megabytes! and the current e-mail provider supports up to 200 megabytes per e-mail!!! I can't imagine sending an e-mail that large.
Anyway, they have an extra account that is shared and that each must log into to access the shared e-mail. It would be far simpler to have a filter that automagically forwards e-mails to a particular address to each of the people in the company something like a mailing list.
This is of special importance to me in that I'm getting old (currently 68) and all the e-mails regarding domain registrations and e-mail comes to me. If something happens to me, I don't know that they would ever log in to see new notices. It would be far better to have the e-mail come in and then be copied over to each of the others.
One alternative, I guess, would be if I could buy a 25 year subscription so that the account would remain active for 25 years. This wouldn't be likely to work with the domain registrars because they now (at least Network Solutions, anyway) because they will send out a notice to check your information and if you don't respond in time to tell them that the information is correct, they put the domain on hold and redirect all of the DNS queries to their own server that says that the domain has been suspended. This caused us serious problems last fall when they suspended a domain of ours that had some users on it who must legally perform certain actions within a couple of days after the notice is sent out, whether or not they receive the notification. That became a serious issue of public safety within hours on the first day they suspended the domain and continued for the several days to get the domain unsuspended.

I would love to have the option to forward email based on a filter based on the sender, recipient or specific key words. My use case is I would like to forward email to my wife that I receive from my children's school and / or teachers. This would simplify what currently is a manual process.

I'd really like to be able to forward emails automatically from one Proton account to another. I'm on the committee of a local environmental group, we occasionally get whistleblowers wanting to contact us securely. If we had an account for the (small poor not for profit) group, with auto forwarding to another Proton account eg mine, then when I step down we just change to auto forwarding rule to my replacement and do not have to fiddle with the public address.

Please, add this feature. I've been paying for a PM account for a few years now and generally had good luck. But like many others, I'm willing to forgo some security in exchange for email forwarding. I don't see any way to avoid vendor lock-in here unless I have some way to get realtime email out. I've already become dependent on the service and updating all my contacts to a new email address is a daunting task. Email forwarding would solve the issue.

I'm flabbergasted to find out that email forwarding isn't possible with PM. I wouldn't have singed up for the paid version if I did.
