Add ability to run newly created filters against existing mail
Can you please make it so we can run newly created filters against existing mail? Ideally based off the same criteria we can search on, applied retroactively.
When creating a filter, you have a checkbox "Apply filter to existing emails".

I have edited a filter and want to run it to tidy up my Inbox.
The example was a filter for Fred@xyz.com, changed to ends with @xyz.com. My inbox is still filled with joe@xyz.com, bill@xyz.com, etc etc.
As well as this tidying need, it would be useful to be able to test a filter, rather than having to wait for the next relevant email to arrive. -

When a filter is created - enable immediate application to the existing emails in the inbox

The filters work well, but I've just imported all my gmail content and now I want to run filters to reorganise thousands of emails and I realise you cannot apply the filters to existing mail, only as mail arrives or is sent. If you are trying to encourage users to expand their use of your mail services, why would you not give them a way to organise that content once it has been migrated in?

Additionally trigger the filter on events like mail-read, so that read mail can be stored into a folder by the filter.

Please implement this feature as soon as possible.

At the moment, there's little-to-no way to figure out whether a Sieve filter I'm trying to create is going to have the desired effect in the future.
Gmail's filters, while less powerful, at least allow me to preview what effect the filter I'm creating *would* have had on previous e-mails. Relatedly, [Fastmail provides](https://www.fastmail.com/help/technical/sieve-howto.html#testing) a [testing tool](https://www.fastmail.com/cgi-bin/sievetest.pl) for their Sieve platform, although it's a little bare-bones.

In case there's been a mistake in a Sieve-filter, or if the user just has a new idea about how to filter things, it would be nice to have a "Re-Sieve" button.
The button would run all already received messages through the filters again, thus applying the new filtering rules.

It would be great that we can apply newly created filters on the mailbox.

The ability to run a filter on a folder not just new incoming and outgoing mail. I dont always want to create a filter right from the begin. For example, i start to get a newsletter from a company. I decide later that i want to keep them and organize them. So i want to create a filter that will move them to a folder. Which i fine for new emails, but what happens for the ones already received? I have to move them manually.

Filters really need to be applied on existing messages. Otherwise, it is nearly impossible to organize a huge import from Gmail. And that is what most people are doing, migrating years of emails with tens of thousands of messages... to Protonmail.
The Bridge makes importing possible. But the Bridge is pretty slow and IMAP is not well suited for labels and folders.
No need to get the bridge involved anyway, since these filters are executed on the server, and on the unencrypted message headers.
It is far better to use filters to label, folder, mark and archive messages,.... than the Bridge and a thick email client that needs to decrypt messages. -

This is pretty essential functionality. Sieve filters are great, but if I can't run them against the current inbox (or specified folder) then I'm basically left waiting to get another email of the same type to see it work.

This is a feature will really help me out as I frankly don't have the time to go through my now extensive list of emails piecemeal to move them to folders.
Suggestion: if applying rules to current emails is difficult, what about a checkbox option to only see messages in the inbox that aren't attributed to a folder?

Any chance someone from Protonmail could comment on this pls? It can't be THAT hard to make this happen and would really help with organisation...

I do the same @sciro, but it is annoying. With the new Bridge, you can use your mail client's filters, but this would still be a useful feature.
