Send As (from external address)
It would be nice to be able to send an email as a different address.
Google has a feature like this. So I can send from my schools .edu account from inside my personal gmail.

This feature is going to decide if I am going to switch to Proton mail.

Hi everybody,
a few hours after posting the message below, I realised this seems to be working?... I have defined the domain in Proton settings, some labels are still red but I have been able to successfully send a message from and to Gmail?
Does it work for you as well?

My family has its own domain name, whose MX currently forwards to Gmail all my incoming messages, and from Gmail I can use that "From" address for outgoing messages. It currently is not possible with Proton (just checked with support, see ticket 1906454) - I wish it was, so that I could extract me a bit further from Google's claws.

The lack of this feature is the only reason I'm not switching completely to Proton. Alone in the migration process it is helpful. It also allows older and less important accounts to continue to operate.

Being able to "Send As" from one of the domains I have forwarded to ProtonMail would be extremely convenient.
Even more convenient—and important—would be if the "Unsubscribe" feature would automatically use the address to which an email was sent. Sending an "Unsubscribe" request from an address that is not on the mailing list is unproductive.

It would also be nice to specify "send as" with an alias (`+` SMTP feature).
My address is something@protonmail.com , sometimes I subscribe to websites with the email "something+websitename@protonmail.com" to track future spam. But sometimes they ask me to email them from my account's email, and I can't do that.

Any chance of this at any point?

This feature would allow me to move some but not all domain accounts to Protonmail by forwarding the moved ones to Protonmail and using this feature to send as that address. Other domain addresses could still be forwarded to Gmail etc. as they are today.

It sucks to see this is still not implemented.

Like many users, this is the last missing tool that prevents me from moing all my mail to Protonmail

no way I would switch away from Gmail without this feature

I can't subscribe a commercial mail without this feature...

I have to rely on Gmail to be able to send as my educational mail. I'm considering switching to another mail service that includes this feature.

Yes, I also have a school .edu email alias that I'm actively using. This is the only lack of feature preventing me from switching to protonmail as my main email service provider. Please support it.

Gave up waiting, dropping to another service simply because of the lack of this feature.

+3, yes please to send-as and reply-to functionality.

Absolute must have feature - has been available from other ISPs/ mail hosts long before the existence of Gmail.
I wonder if ProtonMail hasn't implemented this feature because it would undermine their business model - i.e. allow people to send from 'their domain' without having their domain e-mail hosted at ProtonMail and thus not requiring a paid for account? Come on ProtonMail, this is basic stuff

I have a custom email domain forwarded to Proton mail. I also would like a :send as feature for continuity in email replys.
Thank you.
