Xamarin can be used to develop apps for all platforms.

I agree. I have never liked depending on the internet while composing or reading email. I always like to download it to my computer or device first. I've often lived in areas where the internet is very poor or even unavailable except in public places. I would go to the wifi place, download the latest email, go home and read/write it privately.
Even here in this developed country, in many places the internet often is slow or drops the connection. So it would be wonderful if I could get it downloaded to my Windows-based desktop.

I agree that ProtonMail needs an app for desktop.
Just wrapping the site in something like electron.atom.io could perhaps be a solution?

I agree - a Mac OS app would be great. The IOS app is really good - would be nice to have one for Mac

macOS and Windows app would be nice, but it would not be complete without Linux.

This is an okay idea, but making a plugin for Thunderbird should be higher priority.
Anyway, if you guys do do this, *please* make it free software (meaning libre!) And cross platform, of course!

With a desktop app, you would gain a lot users.

Plugin for Mail.app or Airmail3 would be great. And probably much better than developing solid app.

I would love to use ProtonMail on a daily basis but without a native app for Windows it's problematic :/

Agreed! A native OS X app would be terrific. The iOS app is amazing, would love a secure macOS app.

What we want is a native desktop client. No apps and especially no UWP app that locks it down to Win10. Win10 is a privacy nightmare so being forced to use it in order to use protonmail desktop would be somewhat self-defeating.

A Windows UWP app would be great as you should be able to cover all Windows platforms in one go i.e. desktop, tablet and phone. Yes, I am one of the minority who has all three.

Prefer a native MacOS app over the browser apps. While JS code is vetted by Protonmail developers...still JS seems less than optimal to use in conjunction with a browser.

Yes, I would immediately use this native app as well. In fact, a number of my friends (most of them developers) have said they would switch to PM, if native apps are released.

That's my biggest concern.
I will directly subscribe for premium account when this feature will come out.
I'm old fashion, I need my MacOS App :-) -

I can't imagine that it would be too terribly difficult to make a desktop version that is identical to the browser version, but that authenticates the same way as the iOS app. It would still be worth it to me if the macOS app cost $1-2 to buy.

macOS App in the App Store would be gorgeous!!!

It would be awesome if ProtonMial built apps for Windows and macOS just like on mobile. I feel that this is the missing gap for PM.
