Data retention policy per Folder
Allow specifying Data Retention Policy per Folder, such as:
1 Month delete, 3 Months delete, 6 Months delete, 1 Year delete, 3 Years delete, Keep indefinitely, Custom (N days/weeks/months/years)
Allow overriding the retention policy per message; for example, usually messages in a folder may have, say, 6 Months delete policy, but mark an individual message to Keep indefinitely.
These should be available for all Folders, including but not limited to Trash and Spam.
Default all folders to Keep indefinitely, unless otherwise specified by the user.

Mozilla Thunderbird got this correct. I want the ability per folder, directly in Proton, to:
- delete messages after a configurable number of days
- option to always keep starred messagesThis enables a great workflow. I can move messages into, say, a promos or expires folder that automatically delete after a time. If I decide I want to keep/look into one, I star it and it skips the deletion. :boom:

I want to start migrating my newsletter emails to proton from Gmail, but want to prevent the inevitable bloat by setting rules based on SimpleLogin aliases to move incoming emails to a specific folder and pair that with a retention policy on the folder that deletes message older than x months. Decluttering is a major motivator, in addition to privacy, to migrating to Proton. Please consider prioritizing folder based retention policies so I can leverage what I've learned about managing email over the long term.

Would love this, but would like customisable disposition actions, such as delete (move to Trash), archive (move to Archive, or perhaps new functionality in Drive) and review (an additional Disposition Review folder, where you would then be prompted to review and keep, archive or delete.

How has this been up for nearly six years without any traction? Seems like a pretty standard feature to incorporate.
Commenting in hopes of boosting this one. I'd like to be able to sort my messages into folders based on specific criteria but also allow various folders to automatically clear out in accordance to wishes.

If not on a drop down/right click, then should be settable by label. Must be able to apply in bulk, not 1 email at a time.

As an archiviste, the lack of retention policy is a major problem.
Please consider that this is a non optional step to satisfy compliancy. -

A data retention policy would help a lot to be GDPR compliant (Right to be forgotten, Art. 17). I would love to have the same options as in Outlook/MS Exchange.

Retention policies based on tags would be great.

The ability to have emails automatically deleted after a certain time is absolutely essential for business, especially with the limited space available.
Ideally each folder would have it's own retention policy like Outlook, and emails would be automatically deleted/trashed after a given time e.g. 48hrs.

Yes, to be a part of the rules you can set on messages. Message = newsletter? Retain for 60 days then trash. Message = meeting response? Retain for a week. Etc.

Would be nice to have retention policy to be applied on single mails, tags and folders.
Like remove this message in 14 days, clean mails in this folder after 28 days. -

Mail retention policy according to priority would be a good thing to have, delete old and useless mails which haven't even been opened.
