Automatic categorization for newsletters, promotions, updates like gmail
Could you please make tabs for "promotions," "updates," etc., like Gmail has?

Literally the only thing keeping me from moving permanently to ProtonMail, is the fact that there are no automatic categories in Proton. I have my Gmail account forwarded, but I can only view these mails in bulk. So yeah, +1. Oh, yes, almost forgot, I would happily pay for this feature too.

This is a huge feature that is missing that is preventing me from switching over from Gmail

I'll echo everyone else and say this is an important feature

I get hundreds of emails a day. By ascribing "Promotion" or "Social" attributes to email with particular characteristics when it hits my inbox (without create tedious Outlook style "Rules"), I can easily glance at, mark read, and bulk archive *hundreds* of emails a day.
Weaning myself from Gmail and going to Protonmail disarms this vital capability.
Note that they aren't placing these emails because they are sniffing their contents. I simply designate emails from certain sources as Social, Forums, promotions, etc., and that's where they go from that point.

Automatic categories along these lines would be great. It is the key thing preventing me from using Proton Mail as my default. Hey Mail perhaps has the best experience around the concept, though Apple's take on categories will likely be a good reference too.

Mail sorting like Gmail, your inbox will be split up into different tabs, such as 'Primary', 'Social', 'Promotions' and 'Updates'.
Any updates, receipts, delivery etc will be sent to updates. Social forum emails and promotional emails will be assorted to their counterpart tabs. Primary emails will be actual conversational emails directed solely to you.I have never found an email service, other than gmail, that offers this feature and it is game changer. It makes it so much easier to see your emails and not lose track of emails sent to you.

Agreed with the below, I am surprised this doesn't have more votes, as it's one of the most useful things that I see gmail as added value in my life.

This is the most important feature for me, although I come from HEY email which is a bit different with a special "Feed" section. For every sender email, you decide if they end up in your Feed or in your Imbox. I love that feature because it allows me to not have a cluttered inbox and only the actual important stuff gets routed to there. The Feed also allows me to easily scroll through the feed without having to enter each email as they are already expanded and opened, like a .. feed :)

shout it from the rooftops. This is the one feature missing from Proton Mail that prevents me from switching from gmail.

Everyone know the problem of your inbox being swamped by emails, promotions etc even though you never checked the box during signup. Would be huge help if those are auto-categorized like GMail supports.

It is really surprising to me that this doesn't have more votes. This is one of the biggest omissions on Proton Mail for me, ever since I've switched to it from Gmail my inbox feels so much more swamped than before.

A killer feature, indeed! There's too much noise in my inbox otherwise.

This is literally what annoys me about migrating to Proton Mail. This feature in Gmail is so great. It unclutters your mailbox by automatically moving unimportant emails to other categories (tabs in the UI). A Must have!

Having the basic automatic categories like the gmail options would be great. Additional categories can then be created by users.

absolut - its gets very compilcated without that feature. Even when put my emails in folders or filters, they still appear in main folder. the same as in gmail would be good, so you can easily switch i find.

Please, just make the Categories (Primary, Social, Promotional & Updates), and then WE can take it from there, ie., we can design filters and tell incoming emails where to go, ie., assign Categories to emails according to "From" certain Senders.
As it is, everything is all bunched together. Too chaotic. I want to use ProtonMail exclusively, and tell Gmail to go stuff it, but until we get Categories, I can't do that. I get way too many "Promotional" emails and cannot have them lumped together with my "Primary" emails.
Thanks for listening.
