As a Software Developer (no business), I also want to send automated email notifications. This would be worth updating to the unlimited plan...

don't see the reason having another paywall for this feature as a paying user, especially in the unlimited plan. Would understand if monthly amount of sent mails are limited to avoid misuse of the service. I need it for a dozen of mails/month, just getting family plan for that reason is too much of a pricetag

This feature is really important for me as I'm trying to get rid of other mail providers and setting my homelabs VPN to use something else for registery (basically a few mails a month...).
Also, I don't really understand why the "Proton Family" pack would benefit from this feature and not the "unlimited" one ?

Has anyone tried submitting a ticket to enable it? When you go to SMTP settings on mail, it says you can request it be enabled by submitting a ticket with use cases and expected volume. Not sure if they always deny or what in regards to why this vote exists.

This is critical especially given the term "unlimited" used for this plan.
I was under the impression that SMTP would be allowed, but it seems this only works via Proton Bridge which does not work for my use case.

+3. I think it is pretty reasonable given the cost of the unlimited subscription to have at least smtp if not imap.

I agree, the highest individual tier should allow for at least a few smtp-based emails per month (e.g. for a home NAS).

This would be incredible to have

I agree that this should be a feature for the highest individual tier. Atleast 1 token with only a few 100 emails a month would be more than enough for a personal server/NAS

If the SMTP token service is considered too much of a compromise for requirements of businesses, but it is something Proton really does not want to be allowing, an alternative solution would be a SMTP-only mode for Bridge CLI: https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/284483-proton-mail/suggestions/47332025-allow-to-use-bridge-cli-in-smtp-only-mode

I'm an Unlimited User and all I want to do is have my home NAS send notifications within the ProtonMail ecosystem instead of Microsoft where I can do it with my free account with an alias so I know it's my NAS. I think that's pretty reasonable given the cost of my subscription.
