Family plan with 6 custom domains
It wouldn't be uncommon for a family seeking this type of service to require 6 individuals with personalized email domains, each having their own unique domain. The fact that the individual plan provides 3 custom domains for a single user leads me to believe that it would be reasonable to expect that in a plan for 6 users, each person could have at least one domain.

I agree. In my family, each member has their own domain. The fact that I can only use 3 domains with my Family subscription prevents me from fully onboard my elderly parents and my sister to Proton - currently they are only using Proton Pass.
When contacting Proton Support, asking for an option to pay for having just a single custom domain more with my family subscription, they replay that I can buy a Proton Business Suite subscription. Considering my ask - a proposal that is completely overkill; with a cost 3 times as high as the Family plan...
Come on, Proton, activate one domain per user 🙏

Family of 4.
3 of us have their own domain.
We have one family domain, used by all four of us.Would need at least 4, 6 would be really nice.
For us, this is currently a showstopper to switch to a paid plan.

Yeah we are a family of 4 (me, wife and 2 kids). I got everyone their own domain and when kids got born I was even able to get firstname.be for both. Atm I am in the process to give my oldest his own mail account on our proton family. But next year my youngest will loose out since we will have used our 3 domains. So yeah this limit is stupid if you offer this service for up to 6 users knowing that at least 1 user is a power user or enthousiast since why else would they be paying for proton mail in the first place it is not far fetched they got a domain for every family member.

Its not a huge deal breaker for me, but it would be nice to have. For example in Polish, our surnames change depending on the gender and then if someones children got double barrelled surnames after both parents, the amount of domains needed grows significantly

If we have more than 1 domain for a "family" then 3 is probably a bit too small.
