Advanced Script Integration
Microsoft Office utilizes Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) to implement programming logic into their suite, enabling users to develop complex scripts. While this method can be somewhat crude and limited, it offers functionality like automatically cleaning out my inbox by marking all emails as read and moving non-starred messages to the archive.
Wouldn't it be fantastic if ProtonMail offered a similar feature, perhaps using a more modern and versatile language like Python? Currently, I am using these capabilities with my email client because it's essential for my workflow. Imagine being able to write scripts that could automatically archive any email that has been read for 24 hours and isn't flagged as starred or set up auto-replies based on the sender? Essentially, you could automate anything imaginable with Python, making email management both powerful and efficient.
Additionally, implementing such a feature with the option to run scripts only on the designated device would align with ProtonMail’s strong focus on security and privacy, ensuring user control and minimizing security risks.
