  1. Distribute the macOS Bridge app through the Apple App Store

Currently the ProtonMail Bridge app is distributed as a .dmg file downloaded directly from the ProtonMail web site. This introduces some risks and hassles. A trojan version could be distributed through a spoofed site (e.g. protonma1l.com), so the burden is on users to carefully vet the app's source. Also users must manage software updates themselves. If the Bridge app is also distributed through the Apple App Store, those issues are avoided.

  2. Allow to add 1 free account to the Bridge ( to users who have a paid account)

I have a paid account and my wife a free account. It would be useful to allow to users who have a paid account and use the Bridge to add at least 1 free account

  5. Bridge: Geary Support (Linux)

Please bring compatibility for Geary to the Bridge. It is the best mail client for Linux that I have found, but have been stuck with Thunderbird since migrating to an exclusive ProtonMail setup.

  6. PGP Smartcard Support

A moderately happy plus subscriber, however i was disappointed to find i cannot use my own PGP keys that i have stored on my YubiKey. I would hope at the very least in future i will be able to use the ProtonMail Bridge and have it allow me to insert my own PGP encrypted messages with my own keys using GPG4Win without throwing me a 554 error.

    Other ideas for this area:

    • Support PGP smartcards
    • Allow plain IMAP connections to ProtonMail so that i can use my own mail client and handle my own encryption
    • Allow integration with ProtonMail and…

  7. Integration with forum software like phpBB

It would be great if an extension can be created that acts like a bridge in the phpBB forum software that uses SMTP. Since a bridge is needed for end to end encryption, one can't use normal SMTP ports in the phpBB forum software to take advantage of the security and privacy afford with Protonmail in a forum software. phpBB extensions are coded with mostly PHP, HTML, and CSS so I think it just might be possible to create a bridge extension for phpBB. At the same time would prove to be great advertisement for the Protonemail platform.

  9. imap without third party app

In my opinion, Protonmail should give IMAP service without any need for third-party software. It should not be complicated to do the encryption system over its servers.

  11. Support for Mailbird

It would be great to have support for Mailbird. It was my daily email client until I switched to ProtonMail, ditching GSuite. I can't seem to get them to co-operate.

  12. Produce an official Electron Wrapper for Protonmail for desktop use without a browser.

I've noted with interest Protonmail's offer of a bridge service for paying members, while Tutanota has offered their users a "Christmas Present" this year of an official desktop application, in the form of an Electron Wrapper. It works and undoubtedly as well as the ones out their in the wild concocted by unofficial entities. There are three out there already, two of which I have tried, and another that can access both Protonmail and Tutanota at the same time, and one can easily toggle back and forth from one another.

I have also noted that nobody seems to have bothered…

  13. Support for Spark Email Client

It would be great to get support for Spark. If you're unfamiliar with Spark by Readdle, you can check it out here: https://sparkmailapp.com/

I have 10+ email accounts that I manage with Spark. It supports every single type of mail service there is, but because of ProtonMail's security and encryption, they are currently not compatible. Gmail, Exchange, iCloud, everything but ProtonMail. Would really like to get that working.

  14. Proton Mail MacOS app

For MacOS, for more protection, we should get a new MacOS app for ProtonMail. This is a more simple way of using ProtonMail instead of visiting the website or creating new encryption methods for existing mail apps (such as apple mail).

The release of ProtonMail Bridge for Linux as a Snap would enable the use of the feature by users on every Linux distro that supports Snaps, while also making it easier for users to install and update it.

  16. ProtonMail Bridge-arm64/arm7hf

ProtonMail Bridge , on IOT , IE RPI or router ,
Also Linux Amr64 server class ..
anycase , could have rpi/rock64/pine64 password/pin proxy on a small iot/mini class appliance , esp for SMB/Enterprise customers , for home luks based IOT gateway might be a nice to have , if packages existed for arm7hf/arm64 sure someone could make an image on github rather trivially or a builder.. script/s
    s/imap proxy ..
besides a number of debian/etc dockers with qemu to build if gateway is closed source... feed in debbuild etc... , even if proton-mail had obfuscated public sources , a…

  17. Send emails from Wordpress via plugin

I would like to be able to use a service like WP-SMTP so be able to send emails from Wordpress that are encrypted.

I run a web shop and I recently switched over to ProtonMail due to security and that I think it's a great service. I was a bit disappointed when I realized that it's not possible to use SMTP to be able to send emails from third-party apps/plugins. There are workarounds such as WP PGP Encrypted Emails (app) but it's not optimal.

Please please please develop a plugin for Wordpress so that its possible to authenticate your user…

  19. POP3

I eschew Webmail wherever i can, strongly preferring local-pc client-based email / PIM functionality [currently Thunderbird, with POP3]. It remains greatly inconvenient to me that you still do not have POP3 support. No, i do not care at all about your mobile apps... useless to me... i want it on my pc with POP3. I would stop using ProtonMail altogether [due to this problem] if it wasn't for the fact that you have such excellent security criteria... but i persist with the Webmail-only access under sufferance. PLEASE give POP3 support.

  20. Import-Export: Option to run imported mails through Sieve

I have set up several really good Sieve filters in ProtonMail, and although I am still tweaking them I know that I could have benefited greatly from these filters while still with my old e-mail provider.

So, if I were to import all my old e-mails into ProtonMail, it would be amazing to see them automatically sorted through Sieve! Finally ordering everything properly after all these years.

I suggest that that this feature can be implemented in the Import-Export-tool by choosing "Run through Sieve" as a "meta-folder", when picking a folder to import to.
