How can we improve Proton Mail?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  1. Contact Icons

    Make it so that we can add a photo to a contact. The photo will appear as an icon when viewing an email that includes that contact, or multiple icons if several contacts with photos are involved.

  2. Manual "Expire" (Self-Destruct) Button

    Manual "Expire" (Self-Destruct) Button allows the user to manually expire an email at any time or expire a self-destruct link before the expiration time.

    As it is, let's say your recipient received your private link and read the message one hour after you sent it, but the self-destruct time was set for 48 hours. The email link will still be accessible until the expiration time. A manual Expire button would resolve that.

  3. A PURGE option to purge all or some email from the server from being stored at all.

    this email service is encrypted but they are still being stored on a server. I would like an option to purge some or all email from the server when needed/desired.

  4. When you click on Show Image this action is not saved for the mailadres of the sender!

    Protonmail doesn't seem to register that the user clicked on the link Show Image? At this time when you return to the previous opened mail the images are blocked once more and you need to click on Show Image again. That's kind of annoying. Other mailservices provide the function 'always show images for this sender'. Thanks.

  5. Version Control

    Would it be possible to store multiple versions of a draft? For example, saving them as variations of a single draft. This could be represented as multiple children to a parent node in a treeview. Viewing multiple versions (maybe in a carrousel below the text writing area?).
